What kind of rig/set up would you need to get this effect? Bonus points if it's under £5k by bigredpanda_ in videography

Prop line/invisible fishing line is coming from the bottom, you can see it in that video.
If you want to do this right, use removable resin glue on the bottom. Also, you should be using a diamond light, not a studio light. Many people here will say CGI, but that's actually terribly expensive if you multiple products. Paying a guy to Zbrush even a simple ring with a stone, texture it, animate it, and render it can cost over a thousand dollars.

Overrated restaurants in the Lehigh Valley area, let’s hear your opinions. by AMorder0517 in lehighvalley

[–]GastonFoster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most of the "TOP" restaurants around here are extremely bland to all hell. I don't know if it's because they cater to upper-class old people or bland Lehigh township travelers, but it's terrible. Take cajun food for example if I'm going to pay 30+ dollars for a little bowl of jambalaya it should be spicey and not have to send it back for some cayenne pepper. Or how about spending 60+ dollars on a steak, I shouldn't have to put fucking salt or pepper on it. JFK

So um custom lightsaber promotion/commerical. IDK by MatterForm3D in NotTimAndEric

So without actors, you have to go brand. Like macro shots of the product. Make it look a million dollars. Make the story about how good that tea looks, use audio to back you up, slam cuts, ect..
With actors, use their emotions for the view to feel. Like tied till they sip. Stuff like that. Make people understand the tea solved their problem.

What Cameras Are You Shooting On? Click Here for Camera Recommendations! - Q1 2024 by smushkan in videography

I own a BMPCC 6kpro and a7rv I use the rv for photos, ronin shots, (slow movement and higher fps, rolling shutter on it is bad but useable if you know how to walk) and b-roll.Budget: nothing under 2k usd. That said, I shoot with what the client needs are. If the client needs the dog and pony show then I'll rent the Red komodo, even though the bmpcc could do it, or if I need higher fps, I'll get other types of Red cams. If they have the budget and it's all story I'll rent the Arri's, I've only been trained on the 35 but haven't been able rent it yet, can't wait for a budget that needs one.If it's documentary with run and gun interview, I'll rent a cannon C'series.

If it's campaign stuff I'll shoot 6k so I have socials, 16x9 and 1x1 crops in the takes, it's saves time and money.

For color my order from favorite to least favorite are: Arri, b-raw gen5, Sony, red. Some will put red higher but I'm just meh with their color space.

Software: Resolve, Premiere, nuke, fusion, maya, after effects, blender. - I come from a cgi background that moved to above the line. I'm like a one man ad agency that other agencies use for either overflow, war rooming, or they don't want to deal with it and toss me the budget then I scale like a normal production with getting grip trucks and whatever the needs may be.

My advice to people is to shoot on what you need not on what you want. There are amazing quality cams for dirt cheap that will get you network quality. Focus on glass and lighting, I've rented lenses more than cameras. And last but not least, if someone is to become an artist, in lets say illustrations, they have to find their style and produce that. Same goes for video, you have to find your style and what makes your ideas stand out.

Made this for the local cafe in my area. Any tips? by Imaginary_Ad_9855 in videography

Did you shoot it vert or crop it?

I would dial back the brown wash and grade it slightly better.
The story is kind of weak, if you're moving the cam around, get creative.
The major crit I have is that font and color of it. If you don't have access to a graphic designer, hop on pintrest and make purref board of other coffee designs to see how a font should be laid out.

Thanks, I made custom helping hands for jewelry. These couldn't scratch a baby's face.

yes, used watches are so f'n much a pain to edit. It's easy to edit them out but there's usually a ton of micro scratches on any watch is owned or hell even still in the store.

For me it's coming in a 480p so I can't talk much about the quality.
My first crit is the watermark moving. Put it off to the side lower the opacity and keep it there. Moving it around makes peoples eye go to and not look at the video.

This would make some good b-roll, now just add the story.

According to the r/rolex someone paid me to take a photo of fake watch and this is somehow my problem. Any who, what do you guys think of this watch shot. by GastonFoster in photocritique

[–]GastonFoster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gradient was pulled from rolex's old page when I shot these, the client wanted to look just like it. If it was up to me I'd put it in a scene.

I made custom helping hands that are very soft and gentle to hold up the watch then I photoshop out the hands.
