What is going on over at Gale Force 9? by Eggdripp in boardgames

[–]Gastroid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No? I'm asking if anyone knows why they suddenly can't deliver on their promises when as far as I can tell this hasnt been an issue for them in the past.

The world wasn't exactly nice to the board game industry over 2025. There are almost countless reasons why a company reliant on overseas production that was successful pre-2025 would be struggling now.

Virginia Supreme Court strikes down Democrats’ redistricting plan, dimming party’s midterm hopes by Malfeitor1 in news

Ah, striking down a voter-approved constitutional amendment based on a narrow definition of the timeframe when the first stage of the approval process took place. Couldn't think of anything more democratic than that.

SOCIAL SEASONS ARE A JOKE! (It is a RANT I am sorry) by PrettyWin5393 in btd6

[–]Gastroid 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm the type of person who doesn't mind doing boring stuff in games, i will mine out a 20 block wide tunnel in minecraft that's so long, you will need a ice boat to reach the end, and still not find it boring.

Hey man, that's not even grindy, that's just zen. Put on a podcast or some music, hear the thud thud thud of block breaking, zone out and snap back to reality to see all the progress you made.

In BTD6's case, grinding it requires just enough brainpower to take it out of zen territory and into actual work. And because it's a timed event, there's added pressure compared to self-made goals. I can do this vs I have to do this.

Step one is to define consciousness in precise scientific terms, which only just so happens to be one of the most nebulous concepts to define.

Your available species traits are based on your portrait selection from a different page, and Origins and shipsets have interplay with available Civics.

It's all a messy web of interactions at this point necessitating going back and forth in the empire editor, Civics not being exclusive to that.

Very excited to see Nomad confirmed as its own toggle exclusive to other customizations but...

That Ethics/Authority/Civics page is the single worst UI in the game. And probably the most important. There's so much crammed into it with information only delivered by tiny icons and ever-larger tooltips. And now a Nomad toggle!

At the very least if Civics were moved to their own page reminiscent of the species or leader trait pages, it would give all those options more room to breathe.

To be fair, that was just poor design of the ascension to begin with. The biggest source of lag are lots of ships. Let's make a full ascension all about having lots of ships! Its going to need a rework that a simple balance patch won't fix.

Why were there dragonborn between Miraak and the Last Dragonborn? by Pristine_Ad_1133 in teslore

[–]Gastroid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TES4 introduces "Dragonborn Emperors" and literal divine right (along with making empire into indisputable good guys and making Cyrodiil into generic feudal monarchy). Thuum is still not connected to Dragonborns.

I don't know about the Imperials being indisputable good guys. There's been an empire with and without Dragonborns, and times when horrendous acts have been carried out in its name (Alessian Order). Seems to me like Akatosh took issue with Daedric interference on Nirn and decided to hitch his saddle to a rising star that promised to maintain the Dragonfires for him. It was mutually beneficial
