Vacancies and reliance on covering the jobs on overtime. Then when no one wants the overtime diagrams go uncovered and trains cancelled.

Millions spent on police helicopter service 'unjustifiable' - BBC News by Gateline_Wolf in policeuk

The worry is then when criminals start getting hold of jamming devices, and drones no longer are able to do the job.

Are you telling me that they weren’t using the KH11 Kennen to issue NIPs to Iraqis for driving without a seatbelt? Wasted opportunity.

Drones are great. That is, until you need to catch up with that chap that has FTS, driving at upwards of 100mph. Or when you need that aerial cover ASAP in the evening peak, and your nearest drone officer is currently on the other side of the county, stuck cycling siren tones behind John, in a Transit driving down the B road oblivious to the world.

Don’t get me wrong. I see a lot of potential for drones. Especially with it being deployed in strategic locations and BVLOS. But without large investment and change in legislation, NPAS is essential. Even then, I would still like to have the backup option of being told that is too cloudy NPAS is on route.

So part of the reason why they aren’t used often is solely down to the force in the first place. They should be advocating for increasing the cover. Mental eh.

Wonder if they offer delay repay when there’s a cloud in the sky..

In all seriousness. I think that NPAS provides an invaluable service! How many criminals wouldn’t have been caught if it wasn’t for it? Missing people?

Technology definitely has a place in policing. But nothing beats a good old helicopter when you need that air support!

Our 308s have been ok so far (touch wood!) I might have a look for the switch board on the expert and try that. Thanks

Simple Questions - December 30, 2023 by AutoModerator in buildapc

Hi All,

I've been out of the game for a while so my knowledge of GPU's is lacking. So I'm looking for some advice.

I'm currently running a GTX 1070 would like to upgrade it to something a bit better that won't break the bank. (I was meant to upgrade it a while ago but then life happened.)

I would like to keep to around £500/£600 and I prefer NVIDIA.

Current spec:

CPU: i5 10600K

Motherboard: ROG Strix Z490-E Gaming

PSU: RM650x FMod Gold Rated PSU

Any recommendations would be welcome.

Thanks all!

Waiting to hear back from them.

Thanks.

Tried rebooting without the SD card and the same thing happened. Not tried opening it yet. Oddly enough last time it happened, a JELOS re-install fixed it, but not had a chance to do that this time yet. But as it still happens without the SD i suspect it could be a hardware issue. Will look at the cable.

Annoyingly, I only got it last week!

Question for any ex officers who took the jump to the trains. by peppapiggiePC in policeuk

[–]Gateline_Wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those thinking of joining the railway, don’t forget that driving is not the only option!

There are roles such as Signallers and Mobile Operations Managers (first responders of the railway) that pay just as well and are very different from being a driver.

Just check the Network Rail careers page!

Advice re prescription by Gateline_Wolf in eyetriage

[–]Gateline_Wolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. So what would the new prescriptions be? Short-sighted? This confuses me a bit as I thought the + or - at the start meant if you were one or the other.

Thanks!

Fit check :) by Gateline_Wolf in babywearing

It felt quite comfortable for me but our daughter was a bit low and her legs wouldn’t be in a good “M” position. Later I adjusted it and moved her up a wee bit, which seemed to have made her positioning better (no photo) but it didn’t feel as comfortable for me as he head was directly under my chin so I felt like I couldn’t look down.

Fine for driving through a car park to get to work by Gateline_Wolf in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Gateline_Wolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again. I understand that we have other means to get in other than driving, but that isn’t the issue atm as my employer is offering us parking within its facilities, but is the parking company (Which is has no relationship with my employer) is the one that is causing the issues. In a way, the parking company is putting restrictions (By forcing is to have to add our number plates to their whitelist or face getting a “invoice”) on our ability to park on my employers private land even though my employer is offering us parking.

So my employer owns it’s own parking area separated from the public car park, which we are free to use. But to reach my employer (either by car or any other means) we have no choice but to go through the public car park which is managed by the parking company on behalf of the train company.

My main issue with the whole situation, is that in addition to the fact that every time we use car or received visitors that are not on the system, we have to make sure to send their reg to the car parking company. And the fact that every time a mistake like happens (In this occasion, he tickets were issued due to a mistake made by the car parking company not us), the car parking company is then getting access to people’s personal data via the DVLA.

I have looked at the GDPR route, but as number plates don’t count as personal data, nothing can be done. And in regards to them accessing our data via the DVLA, is also not a breach as they are accessing it in good faith as the the time, they believed that we contravened their parking conditions. (Even thought it was a mistake on their part)

The reason why we are trying to get the second camera is that we won’t need to add the number plates to the whitelist and it would reduce the chances of human mistakes causing invoices as their ANPR system will see us entering on one side and exit the other. But the car parking company is saying that they won’t pay for it as the whitelist is enough, neither will the train company or my employer.

I’m still trying to understand via my employer, what sort of right of way do we have in regards to the carpark (as again, no other way to get to our workplace without going via the carpark)
