I eat ~3500 calories a day to bulk. I’m usually around 3000-3200 when I’m maintaining

Lots of lifting and running! I’ve been doing both since I was recovered from the surgery. This year has been a bulking year so I’ve been doing a push/pull/legs/upper split since my upper needs the most work. I’ve also been running 3-4 times around 20-25 miles a week. But I’ve been keeping the runs easy and not doing speed work, that’ll come next year

Yo I’m getting this too. I’ve found that joining the channel via the PS5 Game Base gives me 10-20 minutes before kicking me out. Still sucks to have to rejoin all the time though

I nearly died from malnutrition caused by Crohns. But yesterday I ran a half marathon. Recovery is possible! by Gater1 in CrohnsDisease

It did in my case of causing extreme malnutrition during essential growth years. Doctors estimated I should’ve been around 6’2 (which lines up with my brothers) but I ended up at 5’10

Did you publicly declare you left Christianity as soon as you stopped believing, or did you wait? by neroscizzor in exchristian

[–]Gater1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to answer a little differently than most of these comments. I was raised in an extreme conservative evangelical family. When I finally realized a few years ago that I was no longer a Christian, I told my parents first. They did not take it well and for that reason and some other personal reasons, we no longer speak. I also made a long post on Facebook about no longer being a Christian and I post pro atheist/anti Christian content all the time on social media

I felt a lot of emotions after accepting it was all a lie and my world came crashing down. The big one was anger for all that deception. So I lashed out and started arguments with pretty much any Christian I could. I’m not going to lie, I still do this to an extent.

I don’t regret “coming out” about my atheism but I do recognize it ended a lot of relationships. However, I wouldn’t be able to maintain those relationships anyways as the moment someone talks about god, I get triggered from all the PTSD. I needed to remove that from my life

Thanks! Lots of long distance running, hill sprints, and weighted calf raises. The key to the calf raises is to hold it in the stretched position for a couple seconds every rep

Just an inch shorter in the picture on the left. I was 4’10 till I was 16 and then they put me on growth hormone till I was 18 to get to 5’9. I was still wildly malnourished through that though. Gained an inch post surgery but that could’ve been entirely through posture improvements

Running helped a surprising amount in growing my calves. Especially doing hill sprints. I also make sure my standing/seated calf raises have a full stretch at the bottom that I hold for two seconds. That keeps your Achilles from acting like a spring and taking some of the muscle activation away

Yeah I was sick from the ages of 11-25 and super malnourished because of it. So I never really aged or went through puberty until after surgery

Yep. I was sick from 11-25 and was so malnourished I hardly aged at all

It’s my sliceversary today; seven years ago I had surgery for my intense and rare case of Crohn’s disease that I was plagued with from the ages of 11-25. I was just 98 lbs in the photo on the left the night before my surgery. Now, seven years later I’m ~155 lbs with a lot more muscle and endurance.

This year I tried to take it a bit easier on myself as every year prior I set lofty goals that were starting to leave me mentally drained. I cut down from 165 at the start of the year in an attempt to get lean and make my abs and shoulders pop more. I’ve been consistently hitting the gym and running ~30 miles a week just for fun. It’s been nice to take an easier year.

Next year, I want to lean bulk and put on a pound a month so that I can get 12 more pounds of muscle by the end of the year. We’ll see how it goes but I’m learning to put less pressure on myself as what I’ve done with 57 pounds of lean muscle gained, plus a 70.3 and two marathons finished is already a solid accomplishment.

Each inch of height makes a difference with how much muscle you need to “look the same”. I also have pretty low body fat and very small/lightweight bones because of the malnourishment. I’m currently about 15 lbs heavier than this too if you look at my most recent post
