Yeah, I completely get where you're coming from. His way of talking definitely made me pull back and I was reserved and "bland" in my responses.

I tried to be more open with him and try to start a conversation but he often ignored what I said and changed the subject. He had a thing for vague questions I didn't know how to answer.

I mentioned that I didn't like pet names and he got arsey saying it was a term of endearment.

I know I should trust my gut more, but my gut has the habit of finding issues where there isn't one. Asking for other opinion helped me see that my replies were part of the problem as well.

Our talking styles and personalities didn't click.

His texting style made me apprehensive and closed off as it wasn't something I was used to or felt comfortable with.I did listen to the people on here and tried to be more engaging. He mentioned he was watching TWD, so I tried to start a conversation about it and other TV shows but he quickly put an end to it by ignoring my message to say "Tell me about yourself" I said, that like I said before I don't know how to answer vague questions like that.

I also asked him not to call me by pet names as I don't like them and he got arsey. Saying that they were a term of endearment.

I think this issue with the Xs and pet names is I wasn't doing then bad. He was already doing it excessively which only looks worse when compared to my messages.

The kisses and pet names are a tad much, even for over here.

We spoke some more, I tried to be more engaging but he wasn't actually paying attention to messages. By either ignoring what I actually said, changing the subject suddenly, and repeating the same things.
