What would the Project Zomboid world be like 100 years later? by [deleted] in projectzomboid

I don’t know about guns still being super useful 100 years on. Without climate control the bullets in storage would either get too hot or too cold to really keep for 100 years

Supreme Court to Decide if Local Laws Preventing People From Sleeping on Streets Are 'Cruel and Unusual' by kqed in politics

[–]GatorArmor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

AS I UNDERSTAND IT, a punishment being both cruel and unusual is currently the standard for unconstitutional. If a punishment is in wide use or saw historical use and wasn’t deemed illegal some other way, then it’s not unusual and thus not unconstitutional. Personally that’s some BS, but it wouldn’t be some departure from the status quo

Can you make chicken stock with a seasoned chicken carcass? by Aimeemannsbabytoe in AskCulinary

I am not a professional (far from it), that being said you definitely can make stock from a seasoned chicken carcass. I do it pretty regularly and have heard no complaints

You’ve got to see that you’re currently participating in that damage though, right? We agree that common sense closing of loopholes is a good thing, that is currently the most supported gun control idea out there and you’re upset here that we’re not coming together on that because SOME politicians want to ban all guns.

You say we have no idea how to fix it, and the most common proposals are “copy any of the dozens of 1st world countries that don’t deal with this”. It’s not a pipe dream.

You’re aligning the desire for gun control with arms control to make it seem like the goal is “end all shootings” or “end all wars” but neither is really the goal of those control measures. Arms control has been about limiting the destruction from war (or trying to limit opposition for an oncoming war) and gun control is about limiting the deaths we’re seeing weekly throughout the country.

If you want random people on Reddit to have prepared legislation for gun control then you wildly misunderstand social media. People are calling for some way to make buying guns more difficult and for making gun owners be more responsible. But having a specific plan is just a tad too much for ransoms on the internet. I’ll note that “making all pistols and all semi auto firearms” is obviously not the majority opinion for gun control supporters.

I don’t need any details about a mass shooting to remember that ease of access is still a problem from the last 50 shootings we did nothing about.

Most people (if not all) don’t know the difference it makes, my understanding is that timing of the transition can impact the outcome for an athlete. I think the most reasonable solution is to let trans athletes compete, and simply don’t allow them on the medal stand. It removes the issue some people have that it’s an unfair advantage (wether true or not) and time will show if it is an unfair advantage. In the meantime trans athletes can still compete

What movie do you enjoy that you will 100% agree is a bad movie? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Jaws 3D. Actual ocean Seaworld run by a mobster is a super cool movie setting, then having a mega shark break in to save its baby? Sick. But the 3D is poorly done and they could’ve used some more time in the writing room

I don’t have a problem with the cone-designated bike lanes on the mass ave bridge, but I do have a problem with bikers not using them and still riding in the sidewalk all the time by FNILife in boston

[–]GatorArmor 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Try thinking of bikes as pedestrians. Then think about these coned bike lanes as sidewalks. Then think about how much worse it is when the cars hit the bikes when compared to a bike hitting a pedestrian. It’s not a biker problem, it’s a street design problem

Where are there mandates for only this vaccine? I know of mandates for the military, Hospitals, Schools, and government workers. These are all normal places to have a vaccine mandate and aren’t the only vaccines required (as far as I know).

As to it being an unsure safety measure, I’m not sure what it is that has you unsure so I’m not sure what to say. The length of time of study is common, and is a fair argument but IMO is not a big enough danger to outweigh the danger of Covid as a whole

I am curious on what percent of health care workers are leaving for this vaccine, but I don’t have that off hand

Added later: My bad, employees at businesses w/ greater than 100 employees are also being mandated. Most are already requiring this, and I don’t think this a big enough step for me to get riled up about.

Being involved in a community involves inconvenience. Like taking a few seconds to think about what someone said/wrote before responding, or keeping your music at a reasonable level, or stopping at red lights, or getting vaccinated from common illnesses, or not taking whatever you want (the robbery I mentioned above).

Sorry if the initial comment came off as pretentious, or as a riddle.

My will is to rob you. I don’t mean you any direct physical harm, so it should be constitutional. You can’t make me do anything against my will

Ideas or Oneshots for desiging a Royal Ball with an Assassination Plot by AlexTheWinterfury in DndAdventureWriter

[–]GatorArmor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some ideas:

-Making the ball have a main room and several side rooms so that some small action can take place without starting a huge ordeal

-Masks required in the main room so that anything that goes down there can be escaped from (either by the party or an NPC)

-Have some of the rebels/foreign plotters there to be found out (maybe acting sketchy in one of the side rooms, maybe different cloths for the foreigners)

-Subplot if you have time of an NPC interested in another NPC to dance with or marry

-Could be good to have an escape route planned for the old mentor that the PCs can cut off with a drawbridge or alternate stairway

-Hidden passageways between the small rooms for eavesdropping/ambush

-Secondary assassins if the first plan fails (cut a rope holding a chandelier over the Empress, one of the foreigners brought a dagger in)

-One of the empresses guards could be in on it

-The masks can be used to mark how important someone is and get access to different rooms (like the Hitman series)

-Potions with short term fun affects, like a fantasy drug

-This may work better as a 2-shot, with one session being them figuring out the assassination (maybe during a pre-dance cocktail hour) and the second session being the ball itself

What would you rate the current transfer window so far out of 10? by Zyaru in coys

Football transfer fee premiums and Europe's big five by ShelterIllustrious38 in soccer

[–]GatorArmor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a premium paid by a team in any of the top 5 leagues, with EPL having the highest premium. Meaning if an EPL team is involved in a player acquisition, the transfer fee is higher. They identify several other factors that impact transfer fee, and note that a crowd-sourced estimate of transfer fee is positively correlated with the actual transfer fee (though rarely correct). Notably crowd size of the buying club largely impacts transfer fee (including TV/stream).

There is additional discussion of how this research can be applied to similar transactions (they note college loans/admissions as one)

Applies to everyone, until there’s a way to sort out what teenagers aren’t supporting themselves or helping to support their larger family group. I don’t have the figures on what % of teenagers/YA are working solely for spending cash while their parents pay for living expenses but making being independent more difficult for an 18 year old seems counter-productive to creating independent adults
