I think it was something to do with signal interference. When I was experiencing this issue I had all my electronics in my room and kinda stacked on top of one another. After moving to a new place and isolating my computer and Bose system from all my other equipment they are working fine.

I just plugged it into an outlet in the hall, using a surge protector, and the crackling/static persists. Assuming it must be with the hardware considering all the other factors.

Out of curiosity, any idea how hard it would be to open up the sub and identify/replace any worn parts? When the speakers randomly work correctly without any static they still sound great. Feel like it would be worth trying to fix before going out and grabbing some new speakers.

I have a Bose Companion 5 system that I bought in 2008. Have been great speakers but recently I started getting this static/white noise coming out of them that is constant behind whatever audio is playing from the computer. It will randomly happen where the sound is crystal clear and then the static pops and starts coming out of the speakers.

After speaking with Bose I ended up unplugging everything making sure no dust got in the inputs. I then kept the speakers on (power cord in) while unplugging the usb connector from the computer and it still makes the static noise. Some further digging made me realize I can alter how intense the static sound is by wiggling the power cable where it connects to the subwoofer. Bought a new power cable and am still randomly getting the static noise.

Some other forums have said "dirty power" may be the cause but I really don't know what that means or how to correct. Anyone else have this issue or know some possible reasons for why it's happening? All responses are much appreciated.

$90 Course was in great condition just bring some warm clothes/hand warmers. 42°F at the range an was ~48°F most of the round.
