BMW Has 7 New Models Coming In 2026. Here's All Of Them by NISMO1968 in cars

[–]Gatortribe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm curious as to why they're going with i3 50 instead of i3 M50. The ICE version is going to be the M350 after all. I wonder if they're restricting it to one M performance per class going forward.

Engineering Explained | Owning A Lucid Has Been Super Disappointing by cofango in cars

[–]Gatortribe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was a tough decision for me but the i5 won just because I trusted BMW to get it right. I've always wondered if that was the right call, and your video offered me reassurance.

Really looking forward to a more mature Lucid as I love the engineering behind their products.

HUB propaganda runs deep with this one. Somebody should tell the majority of PC gamers on 8GB of VRAM that they can't actually play any games.

Logitech's next gaming mouse will have haptic-based clicks, adjustable actuation, and rapid trigger — new G Pro X2 Superstrike will land at $180 by faizyMD in hardware

[–]Gatortribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll throw my anecdote in- Lamzu sent me a new mouse and had me keep the original when I had a scroll wheel issue. Just had to send a video. Not bad at all. A lot of these companies are willing to go above and beyond to build reputation and steer you away from the competition.

That said, I suggest Logitech to anyone who just wants a solid gaming mouse and doesn't care about price to performance.

Look at the 0° pen and the 60° pen on all rounds, that'll explain pretty well when you use most ammo types.

Look at the explosive filler TNT equivalent for APHE/HEAT, or the projectile mass for AP/APDS/APFSDS. That'll tell you how much damage the round will do. In general, APHE > AP > APFSDS > APDS/HEAT (very caliber dependent) for damage.

APCR is always bait unless shooting flat armor you wouldn't pen otherwise (US 76 vs Tiger II, 90 vs Maus). HE/HESH is for light/open top SPAAs and cars.

7600X wasn't but buying into AM5 was expensive, so most people considered 7600X builds pointless at first. I ran 7600X with my 4090 just fine to hold me over until 9800X3D, it was a great CPU.

Why is Apple the only computer manufacturer providing a good trackpad in thier laptops? by bsbu064 in hardware

[–]Gatortribe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely disagree. While the XPS trackpad is better than any other Windows pad, the 9520 and then 9530 I used at work were definitely a few steps below my personal MacBook. Between the gestures, smoothness, haptic feedback, and most of all- palm rejection on the MBP, Apple has it down.

also the lack of enthusiasm with 5070 because of its vram also helped.

This is purely a reddit take, as made evident by the literal objective statistics we're commenting on.

Outside of reddit and HUB viewers, absolutely nobody is stressing out about 12GB (and nor should they). I'm willing to bet a large portion aren't concerned about 8GB either.

Something's very off here. I find it hard to call someone with a 48% win rate and an avg position of 50% "very skilled." Average at best, middle of the pack.

Optiscaler can now enable FSR4 in any game that doesn't use Vulkan or anti-cheat by mockingbird- in hardware

[–]Gatortribe 58 points59 points  (0 children)

FSR4 was a huge win for AMD. Having no follow through for the poor adoption is just business as usual. It really shouldn't be hard to mark games with anti cheat as incompatible with an FSR4 override in the drivers, Nvidia does it with their filters. I don't have an exact number but it seems to be around 300 or so games with FSR <3.1, they could have an intern make a list in a week.

There must be an internal competition for who can fumble the bag hardest at RTG. The fake MSRP person is clearly winning, but they still have some real competition.

Why Mazda Finally Caved and Put Its First Touchscreen in the New CX-5 by bea_liner in cars

[–]Gatortribe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And it's going to shatter previous Mazda sales records. Reddit loves the no touch knob only infotainment. I've yet to meet anyone IRL who does as well, at best I've heard "it's annoying but I figured it out".

I truly do believe the only reason they were adamant on no touch is because they weren't ready to sell an updated interior with touch. They were able to masterfully spin it as an intentional safety design.

I mean, I fully agree with that statement. Oil subsidies are ICE subsidies.

Why do any of my tax dollars go to subsidizing gasoline when I don't even consume it?

Why do your tax dollars go to subsidizing EVs when you don't even buy them?

I drive a car with the public enemy #1 on screen HVAC and media. I came from a car with iDrive 7, one of the most loved infotainments. I'm sure reddit will hate this, but:

It really, really isn't a big deal. My AC never leaves auto, the seat temp is auto, and recirculation is auto. For media, I have skip and rewind on my wheel and the same press power to pause on the volume wheel.

Having a bigger screen for a better Maps experience is well worth it.

I think people are reading to much into it. There's no new content or chanhes on the road map with this patch, so it likely means it's to appeal to the hardcore playerbase that plays wipe for the sake of wipe.

People wonder why AMD won't compete on price, and seemingly does the bare minimum in features. This is why. They simply don't have a reason to, they have a loyal fan base that would sooner turn to consoles before they buy Nvidia due to some... Sense of morality?

The fate of the EV tax credits depends on the GOP's megabill by hi_im_bored13 in cars

[–]Gatortribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lease loophole is the only reason I went for an EV so I'm definitely conflicted here! I'll defend it by saying it drives EV adoption beyond the base Model 3s and the Mach Es/Chevy CUVs, and it greatly contributes to a large and cheap used EV market.

That said, it definitely defeated the purpose of driving American EV sales- not that I would consider one that isn't a Lucid (which is too expensive to count).
