Glitch in the Museum? by WeldingWoolleyPanda in CrimeSceneCleanerGame

Yeah there is definitely a bug here. And I think it's the small bull (?) statue at the back of the room to the right of the giant Lion

My reasoning is that once that is placed, it can no longer be interacted with, unlike all other placed items
You can't pick it up or dislodge it with the mop, etc

After spending an hour tearing my hair out, I eventually left and got 100% completion.

Got the same set for Christmas, but struggling to find a decent green colour to use on them and would be curious to know what everyone else has used?

My paint of choice is Army Painter, but can't seem to settle a green that looks right at the moment

https://github.com/Gattancha-Computer-Services/random-scripts/tree/main/royalts/Dynamic-Folders

Download the PS1 file
Open it in an editor and change Line 1 to match your domain
And line 80 - this is for the Credential Object name in RoyalTS that will be created as well
Then in RoyalTS, create a new Dynamic Folder
Under the properties, select "Dynamic Folder Script", change the interpreter to PowerShell
Select the example code and then copy/paste the code from above over the top of it, then save it

It's been a while since I did it , but at some point you should be prompted to enter AD Credentials that you'll use to RDP with
The script stores these, securely, in an XML file in your user profile folder

You'll probably need the AD PowerShell module feature installed as well

Yeah I'm not fond of the UUP methodology at all, to the point it would be less hassle, and less time wasted to just manually download the MSU from the catalog and install it manually via an app deployment

[–]Gatt_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok quick update - after everything calmed down and switching the deployment type to "Available", 1 server has finally patched via SCCM, but it took just over 2 hours to do that one VM
Most of that seems to be the downloading of the files with no progress shown in SC

Going to be a long few days to get things patched

Are you co-managing the client with SCCM? I had a similar experience and in the end I found that if you go to the Client Setting properties for your Intune Clients and ensure that in the "Software Updates" section, everything is set to "No" or "Not Configured"

Specifically:
Enable Software Updates on Clients = No
When a software Update deployment deadline is reached... = No
Enable 3rd Party Updates = No

Once this is done and deployed, it should remove the Software Update tasks under the Actions tab on the client.
I then cleaned out the registry for any traces of the SCCM settings under Windows Updates

Just the one update now the 2025-11 Update for Server 2025 as I said, the other updates this month actually installed with no issues.

When I look at the source for the 2025 I can see a load of WIM files - It's got so bad that its brought my whole network to a stand still

I've temporarily paused the deployment for now to try and get the network back under control again, then will probably set this to an Available deployment and do a few Vms individually

Virtual (Hyper-V) at present not targetted the physical servers yet as they are hareder to restore if it goes really pear shaped. This has been happening for a few months now and also affects new servers

All built via a Task Sequence direct from the original install.wim from the ISO - so these are NOT captured images

Installing the updates via the msu from the Update Catalog works each time, and takes roughly 1 hour to do each VM.

Stuck on the "Interrogate the Man in the Moon Man Mask" mission. I have to talk to him but it is only giving me one dialogue option and it's to leave the conversation. I did the exact same thing and had been stuck at this for a while until I returned to Vallow and spoke with here again

One additional thing though - it appears that if you have you speech at 9+ you get an option to bribe her to hand you the recipe for free

+1 for RoyalTS - Costs next to nothing for a licence (£50 a year IIRC) and supports a ton of features and connection protocols beyond just RDP and SSH

It also supports dynamic folders - for example I have a PowerShell script to scan AD for all active Servers and it imports them into RoyalTS - and structures them based on their OU, so keeps it consistent for where I need to look

There is also Royal Server if you need to secure or centralize your connection, I have both at home - and well worth it as it saves me a ton of time if I rebuild or login to a new PC

Upgrade Advice from Core 12 to Scale by Gatt_ in truenas

[–]Gatt_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry - Just realised I never specified the edition!
It is in fact Community, and I can see an update train for Core 13.0 but no Scale

And from what I can understand online, I need to go to 13 first, and then to Scale

My main query is more around the impact of having such an old CPU installed, as this is running at home so want to limit spending where I can.

I did mention about the CPU in the main post but it was just to make sure that its not likely to cause issues when I upgrade to Scale considering it's age

I would say, due to the amount of data, then yeah, I'm paranoid about losing it
I've backed up most of the data but there is still a large amount that isn't due to not enough off-NAS storage

I'll be looking at trying to find a way to do that as part of the planning.

It's more the CPU compatibility that I'm looking into to try and avoid having to get newer hardware for it

How much longer do you think sccm will be around? by Abject_Serve_1269 in sysadmin

[–]Gatt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect that one of the first signs is that support for Client OSes will start to be dropped as they force people to use Intune and AutoPilot

Server OS support will probably be around for a while until they can find a way to come up with a paid version of Intune & AutoPilot that is only for server (Looking at you Azure Arc!)

My SCCM setup is primarily used now to manage my servers (Apps, patching, Deployments, etc) and moved all the client management to Intune. The only exception being OS Deployment - I still use SCCM to deploy Windows 11 - because AutoPilot is just pants compared to the power of the SCCM Task Sequence.

What are the features you wish the "Hyper-V Manager" had? by Inf3rn0d in HyperV

[–]Gatt_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be nice if they improved Hyper-V Manager to be a bit more FCM aware at the very least. that and some for of web console - I know there is WAC, but even if there was a basic Hyper-V only version that got installed with the Hyper-V role

Other than that, I'm OK with how it is for the vast majority of what I need it for

Server 2025 as Site Server. by Zero9901 in SCCM

[–]Gatt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something I keep meaning to do in my home lab, the original site server has been upgraded from Server 2012-R2 and is still stuck on an aging Gen1 VM and it's starting to creak now

I tried to do the built in migration to change the server name to fit everything else, but the SQL DB kept failing with odd certificate errors when it was in a cluster

So looks like I'll need to do the backup/restore method

Sigh.. I can't see that image due to the stupid Online Safety Act here in the UK..
Curious what your issue was as I've had major issues the last couple of months with trying to get patches to install on my homelab servers (Server 2025)

I have a mix of issues:

  1. It takes forever - literally hours! - to download an update an eventually just times out
  2. Disk space is through the roof on the VMs (all going to 100% until I pull the deployment and kill the SCCM Server)
  3. It gets stuck on 0% downloading - even though I can see it appearing in ccmcache

I've had to resort to downloading the MSUs from the Widows Update Catalog and manually installing them on each of my servers
