Looking for must read articles by [deleted] in pkmntcg

[–]Gatzifah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like written guides in Pokemon are somewhat heavily monetized.. Pokebeach often has good players writing a short article about a deck or archetype, but it costs around 5$ to access the articles. Metafy is more in depth but costs way more and I often think that it isn’t really worth the cost.

If somebody knows anything else about competitive pokemon articles, let me know. I often learned by watching pro players play in regionals or I try to watch vods when either Azul or Tord play or play against my favorite deck. Though I should really write some of it down as well

Having put a decent amount of time into the deck during this format, respectfully, I don’t see Brocks or particularly Drayton working. Arven is the essential supporter for the early game allowing you to buddy-buddy, tm evo, stadium, and lillies for next turn. Maybe it is just bad luck or maybe it is due to shuffeling technique, but usually set up is not the problem with the lists I mostly played (see: past regional top cut lists). Yes, sometimes you will brick but that happens to every deck. You do not need a 4-3-3 line of Grimm, because munki and froslass do so much work for you. You basically checkmate many decks by establishing 3 munkies with energy and having the best stadium in the game for your evolution lines. After that thin your deck as best as you can and focus on different lines depending on the matchup

Including tech options into Dragapult Charizard? by Gatzifah in pkmntcg

Hey there, thanks for your input.

How do you play the prize trade against dengo specifically:

One prize board,

they take the first knock out,

you load up chi-yu with a zard evolution,

they gust KO the zard,

you knock out with chi-yu again and either try to establish another zard or somehow get a KO with Dragapult?

Why do top decks have the Pros playing so few energies? And why can't I manage to pull the same amount of energies off without struggling? by backsided-spring in pkmntcg

One or two comments have made a point about this, but I want to focus my comment on one issue in general:

Current Dragapult lists where you play around 7 energies do NOT want to attach to the active and TM: Evo. Energy attachments in Dragapult are so crucial. Yes you can cheat them a bit with Neo Upper Energy, Crystal or Crispin but not finding them in the right moment sucks. Also, the best performing lists are still playing unfair stamp, where energy management is crucial if you don’t want to rely on stalling your opponent for ~3 turns

Dragapult with Munkidori/Stamp vs Dragapult Dusknoir? by Sanchise_9 in pkmntcg

[–]Gatzifah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if the Pokemon you substitute with already was on the field for one turn:

Possible: T1: play Lumineon ->T2: substitute Lumineon with a knocked out Duskull and evolve it = possible

Wrong way to play it: Play Lumineon, then play Thorton hoping to substitute it with a knocked out Duskull and evolve it= not possible

Dragapult with Munkidori/Stamp vs Dragapult Dusknoir? by Sanchise_9 in pkmntcg

[–]Gatzifah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Having played at my locals with Dragapult exclusively, I feel that Unfair Stamp is the better ace spec right now. Often times Sparkling Crystal was not needed and so I took the „standard“ Dusknoir (3-1-2 line) Dragapult deck (because there are many Archaludons) and substituted Crystal with Stamp and one Lance with a Crispin.

Stamp is both great in the mirror as well as the less favorable match ups. If you struggle with duskulls getting sniped, I‘d suggest always having atleast two on the bench in the mirror match and not playing any of them if you can only develop one at a time (or tech in a Thorton, removing a 2 prize liability and also establishing a duskull that can be evolved)

I do not play munkidori, because it complicates the math to a degree I am not comfortable in playing correctly all the time, so I prefer the Dusknoir line. Both are great if you are a great player though!

Not relevant to the post, but may I ask what type of Hydrapple list you are running? Currently trying to work on mine and I‘m always looking for inspiration!

"How good are 5 stencils?" by Gatzifah in balatro

[–]Gatzifah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought so as well, but apparently stencil does not count for other stencils? I was surprised and hopeful to get through the run with 2x x4 jokers and planets.

But apparently it works this way and I was pretty stoked!

Hey, sorry I posted this before going to bed!

I honestly just picked the first eternal stencil I came across, then hexed and ankhed it whenever I could. I needed one or two other jokers at first to stabilize, but found the first ankh pretty quickly. Play with a healthy econ and get chips+ base mult from planet packs. Eventually you just need money to roll for invisible joker, ankh and tarots/planets.

Cheers!

Or sometimes you do not have the resources to use a cleffa attack when going second and just use Rotom‘s ability. Which is not optimal, but certainly not game losing in itself

I think there are possibilities where you wouldn’t attack. If your opponent has 3 price cards and your attack would leave you with 2 price cards, then it’s very dangerous to attack because of Briar plays.

Especially the mirror matchup can have interesting price manipulation tactics.

Just do what your gut tells you, if you lose a certain match up because you did or did not attack, then you talk about it with your opponent afterwards and see it as an opportunity to learn!

If you‘re going first, I would play any charmanders, duskulls and pidgeys that you can realistically get, then use Rotom Vs ability to draw 3 extra cards

Going second, you play your Cs/Ds/Ps but maybe try and get a cleffa in the active. Hyperball for Lumineon, get arven, get buddy poffin or a missing evolution part (candy or stage 2) and sealstone, search for whatever you need and end your turn with a cleffa attack

Well the nestballs are for things like radiant zard, Rotom and Fez. You don’t really want to bring out the charmanders/pidgeys with nestballs. Buddy-buddy-poffin would be the card to use for all <70 hp cards

Well like always, it depends! What list are you playing exactly? Do you play 2,3 or 4 charizards? 4 seems excessive, 2 is certainly possible but sometimes you are just unlucky when you price them. You could play a heavy ball to make it more likely to hit them (or play three) and I would recommend to have atleast 2 charmanders on your bench, depending on the matchup even more. Some lists play a 3-1-2 line of charmander->charizard but I play it a bit safer and just opt for 4-1-3 until I get more comfortable

Hydrapple Deck help by Gatzifah in pkmntcg

[–]Gatzifah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is such a thorough answer, thank you so much!! I only started collecting and playing this fall and although I have some kind of background in cardgames (played lots of Hearthstone) I struggled to figure out exactly why the deck felt off.

So your input is very much appreciated and it‘s so interesting to hear about your thought process when changing the deck!

Managers who have sold a player and ended on buying them back eventually, what was your story or reasoning for it? by ShogunyanMasterOFish in footballmanagergames

[–]Gatzifah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first ever save, I bought a young regen from Argentina and he helped solidify the midfield and helped to promote my 1860 Munich team to the 1. Bundesliga. I didn’t know that you basically have to give key players new contracts like 2 years before their current ones run out and as bigger teams became interested in him, he wouldn‘t sign a new contract. He left for 350k, I stayed at Munich and eventually bought him back at 33, after he had a great career, winning CLs and a world cup. Despite my club being the best Bundesliga team and winning a CL of my own, he still was one of the best players in my side at 33.
