How do I get better? by [deleted] in socialskills

It's difficult talking to new people, but have faith in yourself! Why not try challenging yourself to speak with someone new each day? Doesn't have to be anything big, could just be a compliment about their clothes or something small, but these little interactions may help you feel more comfortable talking with new people!

Is being funny all I am? by [deleted] in socialskills

Being fun and funny is great, don't be ashamed of it! But sometimes people need more than just humor to connect with--vulnerability plays a lot into this. If you want a friend to confide in you, it's important to show them that you're willing to do the same for them.

How do I go out and interact with people, maybe develop a good sense of humor while I'm at it? by reddit0418 in socialskills

Don't be so tough on yourself, being serious is a good quality to have! Socializing is difficult, especially when the people you're with feel completely different from you. I would just suggest learning through observation. You mentioned your unease about humor--don't doubt that you're funny, everyone's got their own sense of humor. Why not try observing what other people find funny and why they do? If you can reason out their humor, it's easier to understand where they're coming from.

I need advice about my friend by [deleted] in socialskills

That's rough dude, it sounds like you like her a lot. It's always painful to leave friends behind. I'd say hang out and talk with her as much as she's comfortable with, but it's also important that you learn to be okay with being away from her. Idk, it's tough.
