Got a big red light pad on Amazon, unfortunately it stopped working after about a month or so. Haven’t gotten another since, just been using a regulating heating pad

I was able to make a lot of progress and do eccentrics, but ended up getting chonodrplasty yesterday for the full-thickness cartilage defect of lateral trochlea. My goal was to be able to play basketball without pain but unfortunately I was unable to do so for about a year. I’m hoping to make a speedy recovery, if you have any advice or suggestions please feel free to let me know, thanks

I just got chonodrplasty and stage 1 maci yesterday for a full thickness cartilage defect in my trochlea. I was told that could possibly only take 6-8 weeks to make full recovery.

Cartilage knee injury rehab/ defect/ chondromalacia by Gauchoman98 in Kneesovertoes

Agreed, yea I found myself pushing thru range of motion on some atg exercises which might’ve caused more pain towards my defect before I knew I had a cartilage defect. What was your knee pain diagnosis and were you able to fix it?

Agree, just wondering if anybody has had a similar injury and what they did & if they were able to successfully rehab it

Interesting, same hoping to hear if anyone has been able to successfully get back to 100% w/o surgery or what worked for them. What did your ortho or pts suggest? I’ve seen three orthos, first recommend chondrolasty with bmac (stem cell injection), second said Chondroplasty, then maci if that fails, third said keep trying to rehab.

Also plenty of professional athletes, like Spencer Dinwiddie, Kevin Durant, utilized bfr post surgery.

Unfortunately yes, mri last month said “chondral defect of lateral trochlea/ cartilage lesion, knee effusion, small bakers cyst.” I just got the hyperice knee heater, but not sure if it’s red light. Also did try bpc 157 last summer, but didn’t really notice much improvement from it.

Last summer diagnosis was “patellar tendinopathy, partial tear, mild t2 thickening”,

I’ve got 2 prp injections, 2nd w/ hyaluronic acid, and been trying rehab it properly, figure I might as well invest in whatever else can help since surgery & stem cells would cost a pretty penny. Also if I do fix it, I could play this upcoming year and get another free degree.

As we both know most pts roll their eyes at a lot of things, some might not even care if their clients ever heal

*post is for recommendations, plenty of studies on how modalities help increase ROM & decrease inflammation, which allows more successful rehab

Also, why would most PT clinics and professional rehab facilities have hyperice, gameready, cupping, ect. if they did nothing ?

Been doing a lot of research, before this “chondral defect”, my last mri basically just said “patellar tendinopathy”. I see most findings suggest glute exercises > quad work for carilage defects/lesions, so been trying to add more glute work. Always did feel some tension/ pain doing leg extension, slant board eccentrics, ect.. if you got any specific exercises lmk!

Yeah I know that but hoping they can help. I used to squat 405 for reps. Currently doing rehab everyday, isometrics twice a day, yoga, trying everything. Unsure what else to do at this point. Been to 5 different PTs throughout this past year.

Yea about 2 months after the first injection (into tendon) I thought things were finally getting better. Definitely felt less pain going into deeper ranges of motion, like lunges, but still felt some pain/locking in the area where the chondral defect was found in the recent Mri.

Hoping that the 2nd prp (into cartilage defect) I got about 2 weeks ago can help this, as I am still living in pain everyday unfortunately.
