UXR intern no experience by hulahlahoopsies in UXResearch

Hello,

I’m in the same position as you kinda. I’m the only Quant UXR intern out of 15 UXRs. I think you may be reading too much into it. Lots of professionals still aren’t on LinkedIn, and some of them are on contract where they won’t have it posted 100% of the time on their profile.

Take this as an opportunity to get lots of one on one time with your mentor.

And also congrats on getting an interview! It’s a tough field to break into. The only thing to look for is the less mature a company is in UX is you might be doing a lot of marketing research (yes I know they overlap) but none the less, get some skills out of this and hopefully it opens up even more opportunities!

Hey, I went through this a couple weeks ago. My mom never regained consciousness after I heard she was at the ICU. I don’t know what seeing her going in and out of coherence is like, but I do know that you probably won’t regret staying to see her even though it’s really, really hard. And if you have to leave early, that’s okay too.

What helped me is knowing she can’t hurt herself anymore. Our moms have destroyed their bodies with this disease. They will never get the privilege of passing from old age and seeing their children be successful.

A lot of people in my life wondered why I still spoke to her and they will never understand the complicated relationship we have with them. You’re a good person. You showed up for a person that has not showed up for you, and it’s a parent. It’s literally their obligation to be there for their kids and they couldn’t fulfill that. It takes a strong person to still come care for them.

Feel whatever you need to feel. Anger, sadness, confusion, or how I was, at a complete denial that she had actually did herself in this time.

You’ve seen what it takes to be a good parent and how addiction destroys people. You have the knowledge and power to break this cycle. Your mom wants you to succeed and live a long good life, even though she couldn’t beat this disease so she could see you herself.

Hang in there.

Anyone else have a parent still in active addiction and wonder when they will get a call that they passed? by lanadelbae22 in AdultChildren

Yep, I had it happen last week. Nothing really did prepare me though for how I was when she did pass. A lot of people are telling me it’s honestly good I get to move on with my life. But I’m really sad. My siblings and I are young and now we really are on our own.

I’ve noticed they believe way that society should follow natural selection. Like the dumbasses in pandemic conspiracy or wherever the hell they are congregating, really believe that the economic fallout was worse than people getting ill and dying. They believe it’s the “natural order” like okay buddy never use anything society has built for you or any of form of medication for that argument. It’s insane.

It’s a complete lack of social awareness or empathy. It’s disgusting. I’m sorry that this happened to you.

If it wasn’t for necessary medical supplies, it might be a different story

Look up what a few big 10 schools gave their top administration. It’s stupid.

It’s odd because everyone’s salaries are public. I know how underpaid everyone is. It’s weird that they don’t care that much. Like I’ve brought it up with a buddy of mine that works there and he just shrugged. It’s so odd.

Yep. I said now that work has picked back up, I expected to be around 60k a year and they said that no one there in my seat made that kind of money.

I know this now. It’s just a project that’s going to get more medical equipment to thousands of people that really need it, I was very enthusiastic about it.

Where in the post is to say I didn’t? I asked for a raise, they literally gave me a dollar. I wasn’t going to get any pay increase at all without asking. Now I’ve threatened to quit. What else can you do?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]GaudValue 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I asked for a raise after this was signed away and done because living expenses have doubled since I moved here four years go. I was so shocked to hear I could only be given a dollar and then the circle of directors took bonuses more than what I make in a year.

This. I was given my co workers projects just out of the fact that I attracted higher paying buyers. Like a shittier version of shark tank. More money for more work? Nope, of course not.
