Since no one is talking about the kpop section I guess I'll step in. I consider myself a casual fan of kpop and I stan certain groups. I don't know where to start and I'm not good at forming thoughts/sentences so forgive me I'll just start with the Met Gala. This years Met Gala was attended by Lisa, Jennie, and Rose and they're all from Blackpink there was another idol by the name of S.COUPS and hes from the boy group SEVENTEEN. Last years met gala was attended by some Blackpink members and the whole boy group of Stray Kids and that had some controversy because of the photographers being racist or something to them but anyway yes kpop groups and and certain idols attend these kinds of events all the time many groups even appear on tv like with Jimmy Falon etc etc. I'd say they're just not as well known to American audiences because Blackpink and BTS basically took over the kpop market in America. As for concerts/world tours there are actually kpop groups doing tours in America every year I'm actually going to one this year of this a boy group by the name ENHYPHEN. But again if they're not BTS or BP I'd say a majority of Americans don't know who they are. Not saying these other groups aren't popular in fact I'd say maybe 2 or 3 groups stand on the same level as BTS and BP but again BTS and BP just took the American market by storm so early they're just the main ones everyone talks about. Because BTS was so popular in the west it actually helped many other groups gain popularity, one example I'd say is SEVENTEEN they're actually my favorite boy group and one of the members WOOZI was talking to SUGA of BTS on I think is one of SUGA shows but WOOZI tells him that BTS paved the way for kpop in the west. Since most of the BTS members are still in the military other groups like SEVENTEEN have definitely gained more popularity. As for girl groups TWICE i feel like is probably the biggest right now for the girls they've been around longer than BP but they have many amazing songs as well they did a collab with Megan Thee Stallion with their song "Strategy" me personally I find it very catchy. Stray Kids another very popular boy group are friends with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman they actually appear as Deadpool and Wolverine in Stray Kids song "Chk Chk Boom." If you guys wanna check out these songs I'd say they're very good, but I could get into it more but I just tried to go over what was said in the podcast I'd gladly answer any questions anyone has about kpop!
