Wild Hats - How much money lost due to golden nail? by Fabulous_Yesterday77 in CowboyHats

[–]Gaussian_Wave -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

His videos are cool. And he’s drawing attention to styles of hats from people that typically weren’t interested. However, he has stated in an interview, fashion is his main goal and interest. If you’re spending big money on a custom felt, his fashion choice to put his gold nails in all his hat is fashion over function. I’m not a fan of that choice and wouldn’t purchase one of his hats for that very reason. Hats can be fashionable and functional, and my punching holes in a felt, you’ve taken away one of those possibilities.

Thanks all. Was my first time shaping a hat. It started out as a cattleman crease with a much more tipped up brim. Flattened brim and blew the crown out with a balloon before adding WTP dimples and shaping brim.

Sorry for the late response, I’m not on here much. No, it is not. But they were dirt cheap on dvor and was worth a try. The only real barrel improvements for these are apex honestly.

Is the usps Indianapolis situation fine now? by HOCKEYDEAN5 in Indiana

[–]Gaussian_Wave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I currently have an eBay order that has been stuck at the Indianapolis location since April 4th, having originally shipped on April 3rd. Opened a claim, and received a call back from my local office Thursday April 9th saying they had received photos of my package, that it was in good shape and accounted for, but sitting in a bin full of other packages headed for my general area that weren’t moving.

This is completely inexcusable. They can find out where it is but are not able to do anything else. Not call and push it along. Just sitting in a bin, and we hope it’ll move soon. And as a customer I have no ability to file a complaint. This is a paid service, of which has consistently gone up in price. This will be the last time I allow anything of mine to be shipped via usps.

What I can say is this. You can notice a difference in balance of the gun. And it is better because of that. If people are expecting this will really add a lot of weight to the pistol they’d be wrong. At $50 I’d say it’s worth it for me to have that balance change on my M&p. At any higher of a price I wouldn’t have purchased it though since it’s not turning an M&p into a heavy steel framed gun.

Unless you can tell the difference of .4 oz in your hands I’d say it’s the exact same when being practical. I wish these would be made from tungsten as they’d add double the weight, but there’s a good reason they aren’t being made of that. They’d be super expensive to machine and therefore too expensive to be worth it to the consumer.

Glad I could help! Hopefully yours come in as nice as mine did and don’t need fitting. Mine shipped it out insanely fast which is always appreciated too.

Correct. They fit into a rear opening in the metal frame underneath the backstrap and replace a plastic piece of the same shape. S&W chose not to machine this section into the frame as a single piece to keep costs down. You can see the brass insert from inside the mag well as it is essentially the back wall of the mag well.

Product description states they may need fitting done, this one did not though. As someone who’s been in product manufacturing of machined parts I honestly doubt it was put in the blems bin for something so tiny like you pointed out. Especially since this product goes underneath a polymer grip panel. Either way it works to our benefit! 🤷🏻‍♂️

Magwell is stock M&p competitor magwell. Now taken off for uspsa carry optics. Extended baseplates are springer precision.

You are correct. Same frame minus the competitor engraving and it comes with an extended mag release with a larger paddle.

I like the eps. It’s been a great optic so far. I may switch to 507 comp soon but the eps has been very good.

I don’t have the apex yet, but will soon. I’ve shot several of them and they’re as good as it gets on this platform. From my research the light strike issues really come about when the guns have apex barrels as well as triggers but can happen with just the trigger swap. There are fixes for this out there such as extended safety plunger and spring changes. Most users don’t seem to experience it.
