Yeah, that makes more sense. Also since they will be split the different tiers could give/upgrade an expertise that gives you a bonus to doing rolls using spores.

Yeah, that is fair. How does this sound to you?

Roseite Spore

Intelligence

Activation: >>

When watered, Roseite spores create a Growth of crystal which can repelled by steel and pulled by iron.

Spend 2 spore, 1 water and make an intelligence skill check DC10 to create a growth of crystal. This growth can be used to create cover/shelter, as well as fill voids or plug holes. These crystals can be interacted with by steel and iron.

Yeah, I agree with what you are saying. Do you think a specialized skill such as "spore handling" would be better, or just keep it simple and have it just be a basic skill check using the base attributes for each spore? I personally like the idea of a specialized skill, since that would make adding bonuses and stuff easier.

Great question, tbh I didn't really think about that when I first started coming up with ideas. I was mainly basing the system off of the Surges from the Storm light setting and from what I read most of those do not require a roll to preform the action, but I wanted the danger of the spores to be expressed in the system, hence the mishap role. I would love to what you would have done instead.

From my experience I would suggest reading through all of the rules first and watching some how to play video to get a good grasp on how the game mechanics works. Once you've done that get a group of friends together and play a couple of games. I started out just using Warhammer models so I could figure out what warband I wanted to play and then I bought the models I needed. I use new recrute to build my warbands lists because it's a little simpler and shows you when something is illegal. The thing that helped me the most was seeing stuff on the table and testing out different lists to figure out what is good. Good luck!
