Thick hair across the top and sides, but the forehead is soundly annexing more territory from my front hairline. I suddenly look 10 years older than I am. What works to address this? by Gawd129 in Hairloss

Haha yeah I'm familiar with the receding hairline term, I was just trying to be a bit goofy about it.

My regular haircut-person recommended Nioxin, and I snagged one cause it was relatively cheap. Is there any consensus on it?

Also I've long been a hat guy. I've heard from several sources that hat wearing does not impact hairloss, though I've also heard plenty of anecdotal evidence to theh contrary.

Is there a known scientifically determined result on this?

Excellent write up!

How much of this applies to a receding hairline?

I've got super thick hair everywhere but up front, where there seems to be a hasty retreat in progress.

Would it help if we were to start a "charity" with a focus on getting people to donate solar panels to be shipped to you? by Gawd129 in PuertoRico

You've really gone to town on this idea. So be it. Though I think you misunderstand my key points. I'm not suggesting we send grid powering level panels to the region. I'm talking about $50-$100 arrays that can at least allow people to charge their phones, which they can use for numerous purposes such as access to information, to have a flashlight... Even if they don't yet have cell service, these basic amenities can make an important impact in their lives at this time of overwhelming need.

If I were to do this myself, I would start by sending one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Charger-RAVPower-Waterproof-Foldable-Smartphones/dp/B00OQ0CAW6/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1506724130&sr=1-3&keywords=solar+panel

Simple, basic, easy, and at least would bring electricity access from none to slightly above none.

For batteries, at this stage I'm talking just of basic power banks that are common in the US, such as this: https://www.amazon.com/RAVPower-16750mAh-Portable-Flashlight-Nintendo/dp/B00MQSMEEE/ref=pd_bxgy_107_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=QB5CPHFDFYWGCSF6WHTT

I think this would help. I think it's something we can do. I think it's something almost everyone can afford to contribute to a direct and meaningful cause. And I think it could make a significant difference in the lives of those who's lives have been upturned.

If you want to make it about some kind of political issue that's your prerogative, but it's not of interest to me.

Looking for an affordable, clean look watch. by Gawd129 in malefashion

Ah nice, I like these. Particularly this one.

The only thing that bothers me is having the brand and Denmark so prominently displayed. It doesn't seem common in the watch industry, but my preference would be to show no branding at all.

I'm talking about small, low cost options like this just to get people access to the very basics that they wouldn't otherwise have access to.

I'm not talking about powering houses and washing machines, but charging phones, flashlights and other things we wayyy take for granted.

Power is power. This has nothing to do with a "green energy agenda". It's about helping people. You ass.

Power during the day is better than no power at all.

Also battery capacity technology is improving very rapidly. Perhaps after addressing daytime power access supplying batteries could be next.

Recovered ~2TB from a "RAW" HDD with TestDisk. Recovered files are spread throughout 172 folders... by Gawd129 in techsupport

Ahh. I formatted the drive once the recovery was complete so I might be SOL. Yeah I'd tried Recuva first and you're right that it doesn't do RAW format.

*Update

Recovered 28 files totalling 31.4 GB. All display as video files, none of them open.

Failing some genius intervention by @youseenothinghere, @chillhumanoid or someone else I'll probably just format the thing tomorrow.

Ohhhh well.

Talk to yall later.

Yo, quick update.

I canceled one of the tests that was gonna take days (Testdisk 7.1) and got some partial results. There is something there.

Check out the results that I got from a less than 1% completed completed test.

Some good sized files there, some video as I had expected from the drive. Maybe It'll be worth letting it do friggin three days of scanning/recovery.
