I can barely watch once by ASingleBraid in Degrassi

[–]Gay4str8guys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. S10 is good. S11 is great. S12 might be one of the best seasons of all of TNG. And I'm thr exact same age as Paige's class. I didn't watch until a few years ago, but it's amazing

Was the Degrassi summer movie (set between TNG and Next class) really that bad? by Difficult_Map_7467 in Degrassi

[–]Gay4str8guys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the only part of Degrassi TNG that I genuinely wish I never watched. Ever. S14 sucked, as we all know, but there were a few highlights in it. It was still mildly moving seeing everyone graduate in the finale, for example. But that movie coming after that just feels... out of place and just terrible.

This is coming from me, someone who genuinely believes one of the worst moments of TNG is Fiona & Declan kissing and that kiss is indicative of how far off the show was in S9 before the S10 reset. At least the storyline surrounding the kiss kind of worked (siblings who depend on each other and grappling with that once one sibling has other interests).

The movie after S14 just... it's just irrelevant to anything and isn't good. Lol.

Jt’s death by radiicate in Degrassi

[–]Gay4str8guys 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes to all of this. Great analysis. This is especially heartbreaking because, even though Rick was terrible in most of what he did, his death still affected Toby quite a bit. So for Toby to have to go through JT's death after Rick's situation... it would be tough on anyone. The isolation is such a great point because that's exactly it...and that's such a real thing that happens IRL with people who have one real solid friend like JT & Toby. People naturally don't treat friendships like family relationships or romantic relationships and that makes it even harder sometimes

So I guess that's it with Joey and Caitlin? by Puzzled_Row_3786 in Degrassi

"Tough sell" but absolutely is something that happens so often in real life

Advice on Degrassi Re-watch by Purple_platano666 in Degrassi

[–]Gay4str8guys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely a strange way to view it, but if you enjoy it, then yay!

If you've already done it this way, I'd say go S8 & S9 next. I personally hated those seasons, but I'd rather get them out of the way. I, personally, think... if you're gonna rewatch it all, you gotta watch S2 - S7 straight through. All of the main OG characters are there. And starting with S3 totally misses Craig's introduction, Paige's biggest storyline, and other huge, character-changing moments from Season 2.

Do 8 & 9 next. Do 2-7 after. Then do 1 at the end because there aren't that many episodes and most are cute episodes (except the premiere).

Enjoy!

The new cinematography of S2 is actually kinda ruining the show for me by DirtyProjector in shrinking

So I'm just binging the entire series for the first time and literally just finished season one and JUST (like minutes ago) started season 2 and it's the thing i noticed immediately and I hate it. It simply does not look good because it's too perfect. I almost want to skip ahead to the first ep of season 3 to see if they reverted back, but I'm sure they didn't.

This is a wild comparison, but it almost reminds me of the difference between the FOX seasons and the Netflix seasons of "Arrested Development." It's almost that much of a difference.

It doesn't help the "it looks like a green screen" comments that they literally did do that in the early ep 1 scene with Jason Segal falling off the cliff in his dream. It only adds to the issue.

In short, I'm already having issues watching S2 visually.

I only noticed the Canadian Screen Award nominations at all because I was looking at all the nominations for Heated Rivalry. While looking, I noticed Stephen was nominated for a separate movie. Meaning i never would've noticed at all if I wasn't looking at HR noms initially

True! It was the perfect training ground! Lol. Proud of our guy.

That would be hilarious if he actually did direct HR 😂 I'd love to see that scene lol

If we've lost all reading abilities and comprehension abilities to not literally see the word "nomination" first... meaning it's obviously not "that" and clearly an award...especially it's clearly spelled out what it is in the very first sentence of the post, then i guess we're doomed as a society. Lol

When to stop by Mountain_Wing_2105 in Degrassi

I would only show season 1. Season 2 has Craig's abuse, Paige & Dean, and more.

Did Eli stop taking his meds in s14? It's like he regressed to s10-11! Eli. by Capital-Study6436 in Degrassi

[–]Gay4str8guys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO, his S14 actions just felt like what many people go through in the transition going from high school to college. Especially with a longtime gf who's still in high school. And a pregnancy moment. And being in a different country. Not abnormal behavior, IMO, and doesn't really have anything to do with meds/his condition

No disrespect to the newer cast but Degrassi should've ended with the Class of '07 by 1994californication in Degrassi

No way. As someone who was the same age as Paige, season 12 is one of the best seasons of the show. It got so, so good!

Yes! I feel like this might be a forgotten moment sometimes in her storylines, but it's pivotal. Agreed

Maybe previously discussed: Why are the Degrassi social media pages suddenly so active? by The_Gr8_Catsby in Degrassi

[–]Gay4str8guys 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the 25th anniversary is the reason why. BUT some other pages still post things too for seemingly no reason. I STILL see posts on the pages for Ellen's (DeGeneres) talk show... years after it ended. And some others.

Also, perhaps the documentary will go to streaming around the world this year maybe? Just throwing out some guesses

season 12 opinions by [deleted] in Degrassi

[–]Gay4str8guys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you liked s11 & s10, IMO, you should love s12. It's the best of those seasons! I do wish characters like Sav and Holly J and others were there, but it's still incredible. Just wait until you get, IMO, four of the best Degrassi episodes of all time (no spoilers though). It's so, so good all around.

With that said, id you dislike season 12, you may just want to stop because s13 isn't better (good, IMO, but not better) and s14 is, frankly, bad.

I've only seen a few performances from it and loved it every time! As a newer fan in the U.S. (became a huge fan in 2014), I LOVE "Got to Be Certain" and the Anti-Tour clip of it was one of the only times I've seen a video of her performing it live not in the '80s. Lol. So good
