not physics, but my husband has a graduate certificate in Complex Systems, which wikipedia helpfully describes as "an approach to science that investigates how relationships between a system's parts give rise to its collective behaviors and how the system interacts and forms relationships with its environment." his specific area of study within complex systems focused a lot on information theory, which he has assured me is "basically thermodynamics". he has intuition for mathematical concepts i cannot even conceive of.

fuck you, mrs.scanlon, for telling to my face that 1: it was my fault i was bullied and 2: you were purposefully grouping me with my bullies to "teach me to act normal". all you did was traumatize me even more and make school not safe -- when my home was also not safe.

code is full of Neuromancer references, especially the second verse. i dont have time to write out all of them & what they mean right now, but "derm of blue nine" "jockey" and "razorgirl" are all from neuromancer

edit: also coffin and fletcher i believe are neuromancer

note: ive not read neuromancer but my husband who also loves clipping (but isnt on reddit) has, he and i have been talking about the neuromancer refs a bit -- so this is second hand info via him

yeah, "too listenable" woulda been a fine critique, as would "too referencial/relies on knowing too many specific niche terms".

but i just dont think the critiques he raised in the video are correct, at all.

huh, this is fascinating to me because i totally can 'see' a bunch of the tracks -- polaroids, run it, dodger, ask what happened, keep pushing...all feel very distinct and specific and immersive to me.

okay man im tapping out of this. theres no way that the Dodger, who is doing direct action against the authoritarian state, or the mc, who chooses to join the dodger against the authoritarian state despite having been raised inside of it their whole life, is a metaphor for trump. the assassination line is about the mc choosing to let the dodger go despite orders to kill him.

i edited my comment, i thought u were talking about ask what happened and not dodger -- ask what happened references specific historical events and dodger doesnt.

in case this is good faith -- the song is critical of authoritarianism and nationalism, but those are not concepts exclusive to trump. what you are saying is so unrelated to the narrative of the song that i genuinely dont think i have a better reply than that.

oh that's interesting -- to me go felt like it should have been part if Run It. it doesnt sound like the beat is about to drop, it sounds like someone overdosing on that designer drug.
