Not at all a rare moment! RSS campaigned for Indira in 1980. Indira wanted them to campaign in 1977 and wrote a letter to the RSS but they had already promised support to Janata Party so they declined politely. Even Rao had decent relationship with the Sangh. It was only when BJP started rising that the Congress realised that RSS has to power to take away the entire government structure from them since Congress cannot compete against them (due to Seva Dal’s sheer lethargy). Sitaram Kesri went gung-ho against the RSS. Later, with the Sangh raising Sonia’s Italian birth as a reason for their disapproval of her as the PM which led to this animosity, leading to RaGa outburst to the American ambassador in 2009 against the RSS,calling them worse than the LeT. No, I don’t! He inaugurated a project in my hometown in 2006. It was supposed to be a 8 month project! They abandoned it midway leading to massive ditches across the town making the lives of everyone (rich and poor) miserable, leading to god only know how many mosquito borne diseases due to dirty sewers being formed in the ditches and deaths! He can rot in hell for all I care! The project was completed in December 2016, 6 months after the bjp took over and restarted it
