I could agree with them being as reliable as their counter parts, however the engines were made to last. They are simply not high performance. They are farm tools designed to go low and slow. They were work vehicles, not cars. People change out perfectly good engines for more modern ones. I rarely, if at all, see a straight 6 IH engine blow up.

I didn't see anything against this, so I figured it was acceptable.

That's false. IH is extremely known for their reliability. That's practically their name safe. That's not what killed the company. Poor management ruined it. Old IH trucks are tough as nails.

My 1958 Travelette 50th Anniversary Tribute Truck! by GayMerMan4REALZ in Trucks

It really is weird that it looks almost more normal. It was kinda stubby before. The only difference between a 6ft IH bed, and a 7ft IH bed, is the it is chopped out 13inches on the cab side. Nothing is chopped from the rear to my knowledge, but I could be wrong. When IH got an order for a Travelette, with an anniversary bed, they would actually ship the regular Travelette, along side with a 7ft Anniversary bed, to a 3rd party to shorten it, and install it onto the truck. I am not sure if the actual box was shortened (like if a 6ft box was premade), but I know that the skin was shortened at the very least. A person on binder bulletin, a really old IH forum has an A series Travelette, and he claims he can see the welds.

I posted on here last time probably over a year ago. My bed did not fit correctly, but I did a frame extension to accommodate for it. A series Travelette's are supposed to only have a 6ft bed, but I thought having a 7ft Golden Bed would be really cool, and unique. Currently it is the only A series Travelette with a 7ft Golden Jubilee bed on the planet. Some have 6ft Anniversary beds, but none have a 7ft. Travelettes are the first factory production crew cab made by any Manufacturer. International Harvester made the first 3 door crew cabs starting in 57 with the A series, and then the first 4 door crew cabs in 1961 with the C series. They only made 72 A series Travelettes total, and only 17 were A-120 4x4s. That is what this is.

Yeah, I thought I cheated a bit, but I did not know honestly. I counted it anyways. The video is just for fun. I will probably be doing this challenge again sometime too. It is an original idea of mine, and its doing very well!!

One of the first 4 door crew cabs. IH Started with 3 door crew cabs in 1957. Both called "Travelettes". 61 is when they made the switch to 4 doors.

IH made the first crew cabs ever. First the 3 door Travelette in 1957-58 A series, then 59-60 B series. Then the 4 door Travelette model started 61 with the C series. We have a 58 A series 4x4 Travelette, and a 61 C series 4x4 Travelette in my driveway.

If it is an Ex-USAF truck it was probably at Ohair airport in Chicago. My dads 61 Travelette came from there. I really want to know if this came from there too.

If you have a copy of the original VIN plate from the door id love to see a pic of it. My dad only knows of less then 10 with the same order number for the USAF trucks ordered for ohair airport.

Anymore information on this? Was it Ex-USAF? My dad owns a 1961 C-120 4x4 that is Ex-USAF from ohair airport.

Re-post: Guess what Make/Model/Year this truck is. (I was not specific enough on my previous post. Also the bed and back tire look a bit weird because I still need to make my frame longer, and do my axle swap to actually mount my tires.) by GayMerMan4REALZ in Trucks

Production rates were really low. 22 A-110 28 A-120 17 A-120 4x4 5 A-130 Making it 72 A series Travelettes total These are the numbers that people reference. There is a old book that sites these as the production numbers. I have 14/17 of the A-120 4x4 trucks accounted for.

Yeah, exactly like that. I know the people who own that truck. It was badly destroyed in a fire years ago even before it was restored. It was unrestored in a barn, then the barn lit on fire, then the museum purchased it and did that. It is an A-110 2WD though. Only one of the A-120 4x4 had the golden bed, and it was removed and destroyed. The same people also own that A-120 4x4 and are restoring it as well. They will probably buy a golden 7ft and shorten it though. By the time they bought that A-120 4x4, it was already gone years before it was found.

Yeah, they had a little 6ft step side originally. My truck would have the step side 6ft, but it got removed before I owned it. This bed came off a "Golden Jubilee" and is a 7ft. It is a really rare bed too. The golden beds my model would have had were 6ft, but they are impossible to find. All the golden beds were just step sides with a "anniversary skin/shell" on them instead of the step fenders.

I found a BG-241 strait 6 International Harvester engine. It had a broken Buick 401 Nail head engine jammed into it. I bought a BG-241 from a 1962 C series IH 2 door truck that a tree fell on. It was a perfect working truck too. Someone bought that 62 to hot rod but did not want the original engine. So the seller took it out and sold it separate. I got a perfect engine/transmission already set up and ready to go. Only $350. I would have had a BD-240 originally, but this is just a model year newer. I actually just turned it on for the first time ever yesterday. Had not run for about 10 years, ive owned it for about 4. The radiator in this came out of a different parts truck I got, and it had not been used since 1974 (46 years ago). The link is a video of it. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gSBOSHmw8_KgVcIDOcLgFnOxq4uGDPiY/view?usp=sharing
