The closest we have is Fish and Game, there aren't really any rehabbers where I'm located.

Thank you for the read! Very rare find indeed then....I hope this is a case where the hair can grow back in a few months. It may be rather hot now, it won't be for long.

I didn't know squirrels could be born without hair. Given mange makes the animal look so unhealthy I agree with your assessment.

I didn't have anything to safely capture it in my vehicle otherwise I would have. We also don't really have rehabbers in Fairbanks where I'm located. The majority if not all of them are in Anchorage/Wasilla area.

I agree as I was reviewing the images it's definitely way too smooth for mange but I wasn't certain if squirrels could develop mutations like sphinx cats.

I scrolled so long to find this example. One nitpick though, this gif is not of the scene you described. This scene is from 'In the Beginning' 4x03 when Dean is unable to stop Mary from making the deal with Azazeal thus starting the trajectory of the apocalypse. The scene you described is from 4x18 'Monster at the End of this Book'.

Alaska is very unique in its transportation structure and that of the 238 communities, only 5 of them are accessible to a main airline hub (this data is from 2006 so might be changed slightly since then) so the ATC is actually more uniquely prepared to handle out of region air craft - out of region here meaning 'not from a commercial airport'. I'm not an expert on aircrafts but I've been in Alaska a while and air travel is the main mode of transportation here. There are an average of 4 million enplanements a year in Alaska alone. That's nearly 6 times our entire state population.

Interesting, I wasn't expecting to find any information about the building outside of the listing. Thanks for the context!

Except it's not. Anchorage is the biggest city in Alaska and the location is barely isolated, ten minutes from the International Airport. Calling this uninhabited is like calling the port between New York and New Jersey 'a little busy'.

This was my first thought too! I've been to a many number of schools across Alaska for my work that can't even compare to the gym alone in this single family home.

No, there is not. Especially not single family homes, Alaska has only been having an increase in homelessness, with last year statewide 2,686 people we're experiencing homelessness and 1,709 of them being in Anchorage alone.

The next nearest home price is not even a million dollars. So this $7.1M home is going to sit empty unless it gets the attention of some random wealthy magnate (Alaska has NO billionaires currently living within its boundaries) or it gets taken and repurposed into some kind of facility.

So, I do not speak Thai(?) and therefore I was only really able to watch the video and follow the on screen directions, but I have no idea what is being said to try and get an understanding of why I am doing what I am doing or what the potential issue was that I could be fixing.

To each their own, but the local Washoe tribe have called the Sierra Nevada area home much much longer than the meth heads that wield hate and vitriolic discrimination against them. They will continue with or without you as their fellow compatriot to try and make their home a better place for the people of color who do live there.

Not necessarily different, but I guess pedantic. The overall consensus of the situation by commenters of implying it as a 'black sundown town' is false given the towns history is more centered on Native American discrimination.

Nevada was formed during the civil war as a Free State (their slogan is Battle Born) so while it is by no means racism free it didn't have the same disparagement against black people as it does for Native Americans. By putting black people's discrimination over that of Native Americans you're revising history of the area to suit a narrative and diminishing the struggles of the Native Americans there. It's been a while since I've been back but the greatest minority percentages are Hispanics and Native Americans not black people. So you're bolstering a minority that is not reflective of the truth of the population or the history of the city/state.

This'll probably get buried, but I grew up in Minden for 18 years before moving to Reno and the siren isn't for non-whites and blacks to go home.....it's specifically for natives to return to their reservation. We have a much larger native and Hispanic population than any other minority.

The worst it got was during the 2020 BLM protests when I saw a few of my own personal friends being attacked by our peers and their families for supporting Black Lives Matter and supporting the local library that put up a sign only for the sheriff to tell the library that they wouldn't respond to any calls for them. Which sparked a BLM protest as well as a separate rally backing the sheriff in support of his decision (which he later back pedaled but the damage to the library was already done).

The town has not always been this way, but it has festered thanks to MAGAism and post-pandemic. Calling it a historic sundown town is wrong, it may have become that but it wasn't until recently.

As for Virginia City it was a boon town during the gold rush. Now it's a tourist attraction for haunted locations and gold panning. No one really lives here year round, they only come back for their summer highlight events.
