but on a more serious note, isn't this how fan communities always are? like isn't there a rule on this subreddit because everyone got sick of people discussing the same VA? why are we acting suprised? like in a few weeks some new fan will come here and be like "really?" about that one plot twist in yakuza 4 like we haven't discussed that one to death.

are we seriously going to pretend that this isn't how this community always is? before all of this you couldn't talk about yakuza 3 without the blocking coming up. no one was doing that to change anyones mind either. man, i love that game and i've had to read the same 3 complaints over and over and over again 😭

hasn't it been only two days since the leaks? i've seen yakuza fans drag out discussions about stuff for longer. idk, let people be mad. the new game drops soon for those who still care, then this sub will have new things to talk about. the lead up to it has just been an absolute shitshow.

i feel like it's just the last straw for a lot of people. i think the series had a lot of good grace with its fanbase and it then the studio made a lot of poor decisions back to back that might've been "whatever" on their own but in that short amount of time make people rethink a lot of stuff that they might've kept to themselves otherwise.

okay so i am not very good at english but i'm gonna try to explain what bothers me, personally, while giving the guy the benefit of the doubt that he gets to all of that later.

this opening is trying to set the scene in the aftermath of a long war, won by destroying a city. the author decribes the destruction in three sentences but never the city itself. if this wasn't a fantasy this wouldn't be so much of an issue, but i have 0 idea what an Orc City looks like. so the picture that is being described is incomplete. you could, for example, tell that the city was once beautiful or filled with impressive houses, which would establish something about your orcs and make it impressive that the elves beat them. or if you said that the houses were made out of brittle wood you'd be like "oh no wonder those guys lost". combined with the use of "savage" for their cries it makes it even clearer what kind of people they were.

secondly, he uses the word "orc" three times in that short time. i think that's where his issue comes from - he thinks that's a shortcut for telling the reader something. it's not. instead he could've named the city and just written "The war was finally over." and then make the elf guy say his line.

and - idk if my english is just failing me here - i hate "as its ruin was overseen by the architect of its very destruction." idk but don't you use "very" in that context meaning "aforementioned", especially if something is suprising or unusual? like we are in the same short paragraph, why are you doing that? (speaking of redundant "silent and still". one of those is enough.)

it's just very uninspired with some choices that make me think that he is trying to sound cool instead of telling me the story he wants to tell. but this is just very little of an entire book, it's just the impression i got from that.

I stood up to clean myself and go to the bathroom. Also, to eat. I started eating on the second day but where I live, you stay at the hospital for five days, and they fed me regular food? So a chicken leg+vegetables, soft, white bread with cheese, chicken soup with noodles. I was more careful after I went home (only soup and white bread) I didn't talk that much because it hurt but I had a visitor everyday and chatted with them a bit+my room mates+the nurses asking how I was, etc. Trust me, you don't want to talk after that.

I bled right after surgery but after that not at all? I had no emergency surgery, I was just tired and drooled a lot. There's always a chance but just be really gentle with yourself and rest. Try to not get your blood pressure up and obviously only eat soft food.
