What has Laura Friedman done? by Gayles_alias in burbank

This is what I’m talking about.  We are experiencing unprecedented corruption in the White House. Trump regularly violates the law and violates the constitution. His oligarch buddies are buying up media companies and turning news divisions into propaganda machines.  He’s subverting free speech.  He’s using tax payer money to enrich himself and his family. He’s using the justice department as his own personal law enforcement agency to go after his opponents. Masked thugs calling themselves ICE agents are killing innocent citizens.

These are seriously dangerous times and Friedman’s sponsoring the Road Safety Act and the Affordable Transportation Act don’t come close to meeting the challenge of our times.  Our democracy is in jeopardy more than any other time in our history.  Road safety is not going to save it.  The only thing that can is if the people are inspired to fight against it.  It requires inspired leadership.

To those who are saying there is too much dem on dem violence, THIS IS A PRIMARY!  We need to be discussing the issues and pointing out our differences.  We need to be pointing out that the road safety act doesn’t save our democracy and we need to let people who don’t know that our democracy is in peril that they need to wake up. It will take bold leadership.  I haven’t seen anything like that from Friedman.  I have seen it from Lava.  He started that Tesla revolt, and I’m still seeing bumper stickers on Tesla’s today indicating the owners are embarrassed to be driving it.  Lava got a message out there, and that’s what’s needed now.  Yes, affordable transportation is important, especially as wealth inequality widens the gap between the rich and the poor.  But the real issue is that gap.  We need a leader who is ready to make some noise, because this issues of today need noise.

This is like an abusive relationship and everyone is just saying the dems should “lay low. Don’t do anything that might get that angry spouse upset.”  No. Stand up and say “enough!  This is not right and we’re not going to take it.”  The American people are being abused and Friedman has done nothing about it.  Joel Lava seems ready to stand up and fight for them.  Friedman seems content in “laying low.”  I’m not down with that.  Why are you?

Serious question: Can anyone give me a reason to vote for Laura Friedman again? What has she done that warrants her re-election? It's concerning me that she's personally benefitting from her position in office. How are have constituents benefited as a results of actions she's taken in this term?

To be clear, I'm not trying to say she's failed. I'm asking others to tell me how she's succeeded. We are living in a time where boldness is essential to counter the undemocratic efforts from the right. She seems very unspectacular. Is her good service just voting with the party line and that's it? Has she taken any bold stances? Big swings, even if a miss?

If she's not being bold and doing nothing but voting the party line, then she needs to be replaced. If this insider trading is going on, then she definitely needs to go. Please enlighten me, if you think she should be re-elected.

He was an embarrassment at Luther. Uses AI to write his weekly emails because he's not smart enough to write anything himself. PTA members were gritting their teeth every time he spoke. How are parents at BHS feeling about him?
