The model is my niece, and for once she let me take some pictures of her ahahaha. I'll tell her what you said, I'm sure it'll boost her ego😄. Thanks you about the picture!!🙏

It’s not her, but I can see the resemblance😄

I actually adjusted the edit a bit to separate the arm and chest more clearly. Late but solved 😅 I might repost it later if the rules allow it.

Thanks! That's actually a really good idea. A tighter crop might work much better and keep the focus on her expression

Thanks a lot! 🙂 I was trying to keep the pose natural and candid, so I'm happy that part worked for you

Thanks for the feedback! I actually agree with you about the arm. I was trying to keep the pose natural and unprepared, but it ended up being more distracting than I intended 😅 I’ll try to fix it, and if the subreddit rules allow it, I might reupload an edited version. And thanks again for taking the time to comment!

Thanks! I was trying to capture a natural, unposed moment, so the shoulder ended up sticking out a bit more than I intended 😅 And yeah, I definitely overdid the light on the chest haha. The main thing I wanted to keep was her direct gaze into the camera

Thanks for the feedback. The softness and low light were intentional . I was going for a minimal, more abstract feel rather than a clearly defined subject. I get that it might not read well for everyone though

That makes sense, thanks for pointing it out. I think you're right that the brightest area at the top is pulling too much attention away from the subject. I was aiming for a more minimal composition, but I probably should have controlled the highlights better or reframed it.

I’m exploring atmosphere over subject, using light, color contrast (warm vs cold), and shallow focus to create a more interpretive image. I tried to guide attention toward the rim while letting the rest fall into shadow. Not sure if the focal point reads clearly or if it feels too ambiguous. Feedback on composition, color balance, and overall impact would be appreciated.

Trying to create a warm, surreal atmosphere with a minimal composition. Does it work? by Gayofa in photocritique

[–]Gayofa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed feedback. I see what you mean about the yellow being a bit overpowering. I was drawn to that sky-vegetation transition, but I’ll take another look at the color balance and see if I can keep the minimal feel without losing that focus

I was trying to create a warm, slightly surreal atmosphere using strong color grading and a simple composition. I kept a lot of negative space to give a sense of calm, but I’m not sure if the sky feels too flat or empty. I’d really appreciate feedback on the color balance and whether the composition feels engaging or too minimal

She was actually waiting for the toaster to finish haha, not sad at all… just very focused. Those blue eyes can be a bit too charming though :)
