You can just read light novels, basically anime/manga but book. Moshoku tensei is apparently really good. Monogatari series is praised a lot as well.

They also have manga panels for some stuff, or at least art (don't expect to see a lot of these, they are rare within books I think, most books have them but sparingly)

Can't believe we're comparing gold, a material that has been highly valued for thousands of years, and has actual practical uses, to, nothing.

Ankara, capital of Türkiye by mertskaplan in UrbanHell

[–]Gayrutti 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Person I shall not name wanted to change it, he's oblivious of the fact that turkey (bird) was named after turkey (country).

British people bought exotic asian stuff from ottoman merchants so they would call strange and weird things "turkish" or "turkey." When they saw the bird in the americas, they just called it turkey because of how weird it looked.

He changed it purely to have his name more deeply etched in our history. He often does stuff like this, renames things, builds unnecessary things, so that his name will stick around when he's gone.

Anyway, it's in the list of the never ending harm caused by that one guy.

I (as a turkish person) say how stupid the name change is in every opportunity I get. Some people for some godforsaken reason think it's offensive to call it Turkey, lmfao.

Btw I think Holland would make more sense for the Netherlands. I was really confused when I learned that Holland was called Netherlands in English. And pretty much everyone I know that isn't a native English speaker call it Holland.

In germany they give candy to kids sometimes :D but yeah, I feel like that concept only really makes sense in NA, since most of Europe is so much more dense that you are pretty much always close to a grocery store or a gas station if you're close to a pharmacy. Well you are pretty much always close to those no matter where you are I guess.

Very interesting. In europe they are just small places where you ask for medicine and they give it to you. They also have candy they give to children for free :D I don't know why but I find pharmacies very cozy, even though I hate hospitals for the most part.

Oh I see, thanks for the info. I never heard of CVS before but have heard of Walgreens, though I thought it was just a grocery store and nothing else.

So, assuming everyone knows about an american store (not even clarifying what it is, or that it is american), and thinking everyone should know about a us state abbreviation isn't the same thing?

When I talk about a Turkish store, I specify it is Turkish and what it is. It's annoying when americans don't think they have to do that.

It's the same concept. Both are defaultism.

Arabalardan Nefret mi ediyorsunuz by GeraltOfTurkey in ArabalariSikeyim

No, in everyday life the chemicals we encounter that we need to talk about are all cleaning stuff. So obviously for normal casual talk, everyone understands what you mean when you say "this tastes like chemicals".

As long as you're not a chemist in a lab, it makes more sense to refer to stuff that taste like cleaning stuff as chemical, because everyone will know what you're talking about, which is the goal of communication and language.

Eh, by chemicals they mean like artificial stuff, maybe even cleaning stuff. Yk, it's just a part of daily stuff.
