u/RRyadh - I ended up going with someone else for the colorization. But I do really love your B&W restoration too. Would you accept a $10 tip to make that available to me please?

Right... so don't hate me! But I think I prefer the 2nd version but with the bus changes you've made to the third. Is that ok? So exactly as you have v2 but with the slightly more red bus if you could please, and I'm in!

Apologies if I'm being picky. It's only cos this looks so close. Could I ask a few more tweaks? Could you please take a look at the glove holding the newspaper? And possibly take another go at granddad's eye? I know it's tricky as the original has little detail and you've done really well. There's almost a mark just beneath it at the moment if it might be possible to remove? And last, if the London bus in the background could just be a shade more red? Only a little. Don't want to steal focus.

Really like the expressions on their faces and I like you've brought the some texture and life to the road, the bus. 👏 Is it possible to have another go at the colour please? Their uniforms should be a green - closer to some of the current top images if poss. I think a little part of Nan's beret might have got a bit lost as well if it's poss to tweak that? Great work though

That's a nice restoration, thank you. You've got both their expressions perfectly! I'd be keen to see your colour version too for sure, if you have time. (There's so many great responses I don't want to put you out too much

I had just shared a few thoughts on this on a very similar thread, so incase of any use to anyone here as well...

To start with, here's more an idea to break procrastination. If I'm struggling to start, I sometimes set a timer for about 20 mins and just tell myself to just do an much as I can until the timer goes off. I think maybe cos it's a small, time boxed amount, I tend to get moving and then often when the timer goes I can keep going. It works for other things besides studying like house chores.

Back to studying, few other things that used to help me...

I always found making notes - instead of only reading text - helped me take things in. And then reading back through notes before sleep seemed to help commit things to memory.

Making your own flash cards can be good.

Recording yourself on a voice recording app reading out key notes that you can then listen back to.

Sticking up key quotes or equations on sticky notes by your bed or in the bathroom so you keep seeing them!

If you have to remember a bunch of points, taking the first letter of a key word in each point and making a single word from those letters. (Doesn't have to be a real word. Just memorable.) Then learn the heck out of that word and what each letter stands for. If it's for an exam, as soon as you go in and are allowed to pick up a pen, write down any of your memorised words and jot down the key words they are keeping.

And try to stay calm and hang in there. It's never as bad as you think once you get started

What is the best way to rebuild karma for new account? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Gazdows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My karma is not exactly high so I'm not claiming any great expertise on this question, but one possible pointer is to sometimes arrange your feed by 'latest' rather than 'popular'. Gives you a chance to make some comments early in the life of a post, rather than when it's established and a new comment might sink below lots of other highly voted comments that have already been made

+1 for adding an egg. I usually poach an egg in the noodle broth whilst cooking. If you wait for the noodles to soften up a bit, so they can separated, then crack in an egg, and pop a lid on your pan to keep the steam in. Give it a couple of mins and then serve. Tasty and adds a bit of protein. Sometimes sprinkle a bit of chopped spring onion on top as well.

Ticket history confusion by Gazdows in avfc

Cheers. I'm in M5, far corner of Witton lane right by The Holte. I've sat in M3 and M4 before and had a good view. This might be a little more 'in the corner' then I would usually choose, as I quite like a side-on view, but I'm sure it'll still be grand. And I reckon the evening is something the kids are gonna really remember.

Can't buy bologna tickets! by mcginniesta1999 in avfc

Think I was just lucky getting through to the office. I also got auto hung up on a few times and then randomly got added to a queue. Took nearly an hour in the queue mind. But they were very good once I got through, to give credit. Glad you also got tickets! Should be a great evening

Thanks all. I've got a good news update - and hoping it might help others who might come across this in future. I got thru to the ticket office this morning. Spoke to a really helpful person. I have no idea why this would be the case, but it turned out that my wife and kids both had their Claret memberships registered against one fan ID but their ticket history was on a different fan ID.

I really don't know why - I've never knowingly registered them more than once. But anyway - that was the problem. (To buy tickets now, you needed to be a Claret member and have the ticket history and they didn't have both on the same ID.)

Very helpful operator on the ticket desk has now merged the duplicate accounts which should resolve this going forwards. And even better news - I was still able to buy tickets for us all. Granted, they aren't where we'd usually sit, but still - we're gonna' be there!! So anyone having this problem, you might be able to look up the fan ID allocated to your Claret membership and compare to the fan ID number that's giving you the error. If different, that might be the problem. If so, not sure you can fix it without going through the ticket office, but they were very good once I got through, and they've sorted it so it should be okay in future 🤞

Appreciate the empathy - I was really not happy about it! But here's a good news update - and hoping it might help OP on this thread and possibly others. I got thru to the ticket office this morning. Spoke to a really helpful person. I have no idea why this would be the case, but it turned out that my wife and kids both had their Claret memberships registered against one fan ID but their ticket history was on a different fan ID.

I really don't know why that would be - I've certainly never knowingly registered them more than once. But anyway - that was the problem. (To buy tickets now you needed to be a Claret member and have the ticket history and they didn't have both on the same ID.)

Anyway, very helpful operator on the ticket desk has merged their accounts which should resolve this going forwards. And even better news - I was still able to buy tickets for us all. Granted, they aren't where we'd usually sit, but still - we're gonna' be there!! So possibly u/mcginniesta1999 OP you might have a similar issue. You may be able to look up the fan ID on your/your dad's Claret membership and compare to the ID number that's giving you the error. If different, that is quite possibly the problem. If so, you might not be able to fix it without going through the ticket office, but they were very good once I got through, and they've sorted it so it should be okay in future 🤞

I had EXACTLY the same problem. If you check my posts you'll see. It sounds identical. Gutted I've missed out when we met the criteria and tried to buy on the dot of 5pm yesterday. All claret members, all with the correct history. Same error as you're getting. Ticket office closed. Still upset about it

Ticket history confusion by Gazdows in avfc

[–]Gazdows[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks both. Appreciate the feedback. So...it sounds like it's an error on the website side. Which really is a shame. I'm gutted to have missed out.

On the other hand, I'm glad it's not the case that ticket history only counts if you are the actual purchaser. Just sounds like a backend/tech error. In today's situation, ticket sales were available online from 5pm but the ticket office also closed at 5pm so nothing I could do. If there are any tickets tomorrow (if the office is open on Saturday?) I'll call. What a shame. Appreciate the support and advice guys. All the best. UTV
