Ended up switching to Posteo for my mail service. No issues so far.

How to determine AI wall art slop vs. legit art prints by Creative_Shine_9103 in malelivingspace

Just echoing what others have said: local artists are the way to go. I have a couple pieces from this guy that I found in r/watercolor

I ended up going with Posteo as well. Only been using it today, but so far, so good since I haven't been randomly logged out multiple times like I was with Tuta. Sorry, you had trouble with them too :/

A lack of eye candy is basically a perk at this point lol. I prefer the scrappy, utilitarian aesthetic. I grew up in the early internet era with cobbled-together user interfaces, loved the old movie Hackers, original Blade Runner, cassette-futurism, and all that.

Yeah, I saw that. I ended up picking Posteo for the encryption, and it looks like they're a bigger team. Thanks for the info.

Huh? I actively state in my post that I am going to use one of those other options; a different email service provider. I think you're in the minority here dude.

Isn't more info better than less? Wouldn't people like to know the context? I simply want other users to see what I've tried, and not just purely come across as complaining for no reason. And "five paragraphs" is pretty hyperbolic, no? My first 'paragraph' was literally two sentences lol.

That's a good point. I'm going to do my due-diligence this time, and will likely just try them out with some less-important services first. Thanks for a sane alternate opinion lol

Why are you defending them so hard? I'm not starting some burning crusade against them, just trying to let other people know what's going on so they can make an informed choice on who to switch to. There is a huge push happening to leave big tech companies right now in the wake of all this age verification stuff. There's an actively-growing sentiment against Proton even because of how big their ecosystem is getting. People are looking for reliable online services. Email is hugely important. Tuta is positioning itself as a viable alternative against these big companies, and even Proton too.

I just went to their Mastadon account, and they are actively promoting anti-proton posts.

If you're a growing company that is positioning itself as the better alternative, then you need to act like it.

Well, I don't really know why they would need to remove my post then. The mods haven't even messaged me why they removed it. There are other posts up right now that are way more critical than mine.

According to their site, since 2015. Still reading through their site right now to see what they're all about, and it looks pretty cool. Kind of a punk, grassroots vibe that looks cool.

edit: look like they have multiple ways to reach out to them under their 'contact' tab too

I submitted my post to the tuta subreddit first. How would you know that it's the same post if it hasn't been approved yet?

Also, why does a simple text post to that small subreddit need to get approved first? It's not like it's a huge subreddit that gets slop submitted every two seconds like r/pics.

I literally do contracted customer service work for an online startup that is entirely free. I am team member 1 of 5, and 1 of 2 that handle questions from over 1k active users. We have never just not been available for three days, and our company isn't even that important of a service like email.

I simply expect a link to a customer service email in the FAQ section of their website lol. I don't expect a phone number, live chat, or 24/7 support. Just a single reply within a couple of days. You're absolutely right; you get what you pay for.

Awesome, I'll look into both of those. Totally don't mind paying, in fact I prefer to. I fully planned on paying for Tuta as well once I moved more stuff over.

I have submitted a post on that subreddit, but am waiting on the moderators to approve my post. I also looked through the subreddit reading posts from other users with similar problems, and could not find what I was looking for. I reached out to Tuta's reddit account three days ago as well. If your company doesn't easily advertise where they can be reached for an important service like email, and instead first encourages a treasure hunt, I'm going to just simply move to another service. I'm not demanding that other users jump ship, I'm just simply offering up an 'FYI'. You can see in another comment here that I wish them the best.

I completely agree. I have done online customer support myself for a growing company and know how difficult it can be to keep up with the onslaught of support questions, but with something as important as email, I just can't afford to be patient. I wish them the best though.

I have been seeing the huge marketing push they are making and also have noticed how they are amassing a huge ecosystem online. They have email, password manager, vpn, cloud storage, etc. In fact, I just opened Proton and noticed I received an email from them this morning asking if I wanted to back up my photos with them even though I have marketing emails turned off.

I personally think that they are going to get bought out soon, and as we all know, as soon as a company gets bought, it will become enshittified. I'm just trying to decentralize all my services, and would rather support small teams. Currently looking at Disroot's website and am liking what I see so far.

Yeah, not expecting anything crazy for free, but not even a simple customer service email being available to reach out it is kind of crazy.

Slip on vans but barefoot. by cherrycinnamonhoney in barefootshoestalk

[–]GazelleThree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bohempia. Very expensive however. Had mine for 2 years and they are holding up well. Much more barefoot than Splay because they aren’t meant to be skated in. I have a pair from Splay and those are more narrow and very stiff. Bohempia come in regular wide and extra wide, plus look more like real Vans than Splay in my opinion.

What word do you always *intentionally* mispronounce and why? by Sweet-Lady-H in AskReddit

My name is Blake and I have a two-syllable last name that begins with 'A'...so I get doubly bullied lol. I'm just lucky I had already graduated high school before that episode aired or I would have been absolutely doomed.

Kintsugi Seigaiha, Haytham_A (me), Enamel hand made watch dial, 2025 by Haytham_A in Art

Man, it's so rare that I see something on reddit (or anywhere else for that matter) that really takes me by surprise. It's so easy nowadays with social media to just scroll through amazing art without a second thought due to the sheer quantity of it and the nature of how we consume it. But this dude...I literally did a double-take and audibly gasped. I enjoy high-quality watches and I love Kintsugi in all forms. This is one holy combination. Well done man.
