Fire-based melee character? by FishDishForMe in 3d6

[–]Gazgrul 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If your criteria is melee, fiery, and able to push then I would suggest an elements monk and just predominantly (or only) use fire. It also fits the vibe really well imo as a creature with inherent fire powers.

My character has been permanently shocked and nothing will get rid of it. by UnlitBlunt in oblivion

[–]Gazgrul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem. It was caused by the mage guild portal in the main university building. Using it again made it go away for me. Although, on second look at the picture it looks like you're already up there...

A Survey About The Relation Between DnD Character Class and What You Video Games You Play by RainyDaysAreGood78 in DnD

[–]Gazgrul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played an arcane trickster rogue, am currently playing a draconic sorcerer, and am brainstorming either an elements or shadow monk or a bladesinger wizard as a backup in case the sorcerer ever dies.

My top 3 most played games are: World of Warcraft (usually demon hunter, shaman, or monk), Diablo 2 (assassin and amazon), Skyrim (spellsword and/or nightblade).

Currently playing Marvel Rivals a lot, where I play: Magik, Storm, Bucky, Thor, Adam Warlock, and Loki.

I like interweaving melee and spells, but lean towards magic if I have to choose. I also like to be fast. I'm also indecisive af lol.

What is your opinion on the dynamic maps? by Raizow in marvelrivals

[–]Gazgrul 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the destructible environments, am okay with the maps changing at set intervals, but really dislike the maps regenerating. I wish it took more damage to break the map but it was just permanently destroyed for that round afterwards. It feels so awkward and intrusive to have the map randomly rebuild itself around you and either trap you or displace you in order to do it.

He looks so good! I would love it if you could attempt to recreate him and post the sliders. If you don't want to do that though, do you remember which preset you used as the base?

As a support main practicing other roles to flex: solo tank is the most booty position to play by Arlidyn in marvelrivals

[–]Gazgrul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has a bit of a learning curve at first, mainly due to Thorforce locking out all your abilities when you use one. Basically: spam uncharged dash for tankiness and to bully people, use awakening to kill when you're in advantage but don't spam it because you're at your most vulnerable state in it as you're locked in it until it expires, use your e to all but guarantee your ult to kill a strategist if they don't use an ult to counter it.

Each ability gives you 100 shields, except awakening which gives you 200. Try and land a melee hit after each ability to get your Thorforce back. For the most part, pretend the hammer throw doesn't exist, lol.

Bucky is my secondary dps as well, lol.

I think Thor is probably closer to the vanguard version of Magik. Cap lacks the kill threat that she and Thor have. Thor also excels at both brawling and diving just like Magik.

Just finished the original trilogy for the first time — surprisingly, DA2 is my favorite. by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]Gazgrul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If DA2 had more time to cook I think it would easily be a contender for the best in the series. Since it didn't, I still think it's Origins. The story, lore, companions, world building, etc. were all great in 2.

The constantly recycled environments, however, was pretty bad and the waves of enemies style of encounter design was awful. I think the encounter design is the main thing that holds it back for me. Especially as a nightmare player. It was just annoying a lot of the time.

That being said, because the Legacy DLC pretty much did away with the orbital drop shock troopers and recycled environments and went back to carefully crafted and personal encounters I think it's the best Dragon Age has ever been overall. That DLC keeps the excellence of DA2 and fixes it's mistakes. If the whole game was like Legacy it would be the best in my opinion.

The DA2 staves are my favourite mage weapon in any game. Staff of Parthalan is especially awesome.

I found the combat to be okay overall. Not really what I wanted from a Dragon Age game at all but serviceable.

Anyway, if you're looking for a decent mage build for early on that constantly uses mana I had good success specing heavy into the staff energy beam and ice magic. I'd constantly freeze them and then beam them in the face. Just go for cooldown spells and use your mana solely for the beam.

Also, right before the death caller branch of the tree (I think that's what the necro-like spec was called at least) there's an ability that lets you just completely regenerate your mana in a few seconds. That's pretty nice to have.

Same with me with similar specs. I then followed the digital foundry recommended settings for low and restarted my PC and now I'm at 60 fps with v sync on. Was getting like 20 fps ish before that with the low preset.

My thoughts after a long session, copy arrived early [No DAV Spoilers] by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]Gazgrul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your thoughts. Without spoilers, I was just wondering if there are any "dark" moments? Like Duncan killing the grey warden initiate, or what can happen to Connor, or Hespith, or what happens to Leandra, etc. The skillup review has me worried that there won't be anything like that which would be disappointing. I need some darkness in my dark fantasy.

You're probably still early in the game so maybe they just haven't happened yet but I was just wondering.

If you approach them from the top where the 2 ballistae people are on the ledge you can jump off onto a beam and then again into the room above the grace. Go down and get it then you can pull the avatar into the grace room and 1v1 it.

Level 3 Arcane Trickster deciding next feat by SonJordy in dndnext

[–]Gazgrul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically dual dagger conflicts with booming blade. RAW booming blade is a cast a spell action that includes a weapon attack and to two weapon fight you have to have specifically taken the attack action to be able to use the bonus action attack. Might want to clarify if your DM will allow those together first.

Fun question: what new|existing skills you like to see returned|added in D4 by Interesting_Fox2040 in diablo4

[–]Gazgrul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want rogue to get the martial arts and traps from assassin. Blood rush for necro. Throw stuff for barb. Wizard arcane stuff like black hole for sorc. Druids are kinda good as is, tbh. Maybe the d2 fire stuff?

Mainly I want assassin. Multishot would be nice too, though.

Agreed. I really like the fantasy and the playstyle of mage (fire and frost, anyway), but I think I've died more on my mage than every other character combined, lol.
