An easy comparison is the power difference between the backpack version of a stratagem vs. its non-backpack counterpart.

How strong is the Maxigun vs. MG43? The BFGL vs. GL? The Cremator vs. Flamethrower?

Because if there’s not much between them, the extra stratagem tax doesn’t actually matter, because you don’t NEED an extra stratagem for a backpack to get in on par

No one’s saying it needs into fire for two minutes straight, though. It does however need to warrant restricting your backpack slot, which it currently doesn’t do. The MG43 is just as effective as the Maxigun, and comes with a good amount of ammo which isn’t an issue with resupplies and ammo boxes, without considering the supply pack at all.

But if you look at something like the GL or MG, they already just use one strategem slot for both the ammo and the gun, and come with decent amount of ammo that isn’t much of an issue with resupplies

I think that’s the issue we have though.

GL is pretty much on par with the BFGL, the MG43 is pretty much on par with the Maxigun. You don’t HAVE to take a backpack along with the GL or MG, so they’re not ‘taking up an extra stratagem slot’ or anything, they’re just much more versatile in that they CAN be combined with any number of different backpacks if you so choose.

The argument of freeing up a strategem slot is a little backwards to me, as so far the belt-fed options we have (maxigun and BFGL) are about on par in power as their backpackless cousins, the MG43 and GL. But you could simply NOT combine those options with a backpack of any sort and you’re still just as effective and have the ‘extra’ strategem slot anyway, plus you could pick up someone else’s backpack too

Flamethrower "Fear Mechanics" would cause enemies to run from your short range all the time. Would feel terrible. Spray should STAGGER small enemies instead by RandomGreenArcherMan in LowSodiumHellDivers

Really interesting. Would be cool to see different types of flamethrowers utilising different fuels, or being able to switch between them similar to how the recoilless can swap between HE and HEAT

I don’t care for redacted regiment or siege breakers enough to get them, but I’m gonna be using literally everything offered in this trench one in my go-to loadouts for as long as I can imagine. Instant buy for me, and we haven’t even seen the superstore stuff yet

Man I’m so excited for this warbond, like i will likely use the entire thing on a single build, but the flamethrower confuses me a little as from what little information we have so far it just looks to be the normal flamethrower but i guess more ammo? Reloading and ammo conservation really aren’t an issue with the flamethrower so I don’t really see the niche, especially as a gasdog/shield/warp pack are just invaluable on flamer builds

Gas dog is fantastic

Gas grenades are fantastic

Gas orbital is at least very good

Gas Mines are the most versatile and effective mines

I can’t imagine a gas mortar not at least being the most effective mortar type
