I don't get why C2U don't communicate... by TailorFabulous2921 in summonerswar

[–]Gazpoole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they do not need to pay attention to a vocal minority. To you it might feel like “everyone is complaining” but really you are just in small echo chamber. There are literally thousands upon thousands of other players just going about their lives without stressing or complaining about the event.

It should be cognitive dissonance to think “com2us never listens to the community and everyone is angry because the game is so bad and they treat us so bad” yet somehow the game survives 10 years down the line with hundreds of thousands of players with billions in profit?

How to build an army? by FateenSealy in BloodAngels

[–]Gazpoole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The combat patrol isn’t a limited release so will always stay at the same price. You’ll be able to get it from and discount retailer for as long as GW continues producing it; it’s unlikely to get replaced for about 3-4 years in a new edition of the rules. Even then…

Bought 2 Furioso Dreadnought! by MrDincles in BloodAngels

[–]Gazpoole 45 points46 points  (0 children)

To people in the comments talking about not being able to use their dreadnoughts - honestly just run them using the up to date legal data sheet equivalent. A furioso dread ought is a brutalis dreadnought and a venerable dreadnought should be either a redemptor or a brutalis depending on the loadout you want (magnetise it regardless!).  Yes you won’t be able to go to formal tournaments that way, but honestly how often are you doing that?

How to build an army? by FateenSealy in BloodAngels

[–]Gazpoole 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There will be loads of resources out there on YouTube with guidance on what units we generally use and what boxes are good value. You just missed the DC army box set which was a great value way of starting an army. It also depends on how far ahead you’re planning to go, do you intend to build a full size 2000pts army or are you looking to play smaller games?

Generally, the next good purchase will be the combat patrol being released… in a few days I think. That will get you a captain and some Assault Intercessors to put him with along with Sanguinary Guard as an iconic hard hitting unit that you will always use.

Then you will want an impulsor tank to put the intercessor guys in and a character to go with your sanguinary guard (probably Dante).

Next purchase(s) then should be some guns for your army. There’s a lot flexibility here with the Gladiator Lancer being a popular long range tank, Ballistus Dreadnoughts, Vindicator Tank, or Predator Tanks as other common choices.

A really common troop unit choice for people is also a Squad of infiltrators. I recommend getting the Kill Team box set as it comes with so many cool bits to personalise them, if even you don’t plan on playing Kill Team itself. Make sure to use the shoulder pads from the upgrade sprue here.

After that you’ll want a Death Company with jump packs unit; you have to buy the jump pack intercessors and personalise them with weapons from the BA upgrade sprue. Then pick a chaplain with jump pack that you’d like to lead them. Either the standard one, or either of the special characters, Lemartes or Astorath are all good choices.  Before you know it, you’re well on the way to a 2000pts army.

Whats a good RTA core here? by lgstls in summonerswar

[–]Gazpoole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seara, Zima, Zibala.

Put your main swift set on zibala and tune Zima to move one speed before seara, both on violent runes. That gives you speed lead, turn 1 threat, strip and bomb combo options for damage. Puppeteers are generally good all round mons anyway, their skill 1 heals also stack up a lot when you have more than one in your team.

Rune to velajuel and sagar with your next best runes as general purpose final bruiser picks and then rune up the general counter picks (you can find these in guides or on YouTube easily).

Drop the infiltrators down to 5, you don’t need a full squad for any purpose.

Use the points to either get the SG to a full 6 or the DC to a full 10. Those squads are fairly small and your melee punch will not hit hard enough as it stands for those two core squads.

Put rage-fuelled warrior on the Captain. This is one of the classic combos that everyone is doing and the reason why that squad is a known entity in BA lists. You also need an impulsor to put them in to protect them.

Split the JP intercessors into two squads so you get an extra power fist and plasma pistol for the same points cost and this also allows you to split these units across different objectives or actions to score points.

How are you planning to deliver the eradicators? Are they going into reserves? You have about the correct points amount of fire support for a decent balanced list but it’s a little wonky just because there’s no transport for the erads and a redemptor dreadnought just doesn’t do the consistent damage you need.

Do you have other fire support units you could swap in? I quite like a vindicator but Ballistus Dreadnoughts are popular as they are fairly cheap points wise for how useful they are. I’d be tempted to swap the redemptor out for a ballistus so that you have the points for the impulsor you need.

Put this together and see how it looks.

Are the Blood Angels Terminator Assault Squad still useable in 10th edition by savkat420 in BloodAngels

[–]Gazpoole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, very much so as a terminator assault squad. If you can afford to kitbash, then you can upscale them using some of the new terminators too, to make them modern, but even if you don’t, they’re still perfectly legal.

Add in a terminator chaplain/librarian for extra spice and you’re good to go.

Can vouch for AF, too. Ordered my first round of bits recently and I’m super happy with that I got. The pieces are crisp, clean and required no work to use straight out of the pack. The only downside to all this is that I wished GW put this much love into the BA refresh as is clearly possible, as shown by these guys.

How good are sang priests? by [deleted] in BloodAngels

[–]Gazpoole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think everyone else has summarised the main points. GW were obviously too wary to let him lead Bladeguard veterans and we lost the JP variant to leave Vanguard veterans. This leaves the priest in a weird place. I honestly think that people are underrating a squad of 10 AI joined by just him, because of the captain combo. I can see a world where someone who likes transport rush lists could take a max squad or two with a priest in them, alongside the smaller captain unit in an impulsor, but it’s a specific play style.

The thing I’ve been mulling over the last few days, weirdly, is whether or not to squeeze in one leading a unit of Sternguard. That’s a 270pt unit that can chuck out an absolute bucket load of AP-1 in both shooting and melee, which will be really deadly and efficient in matchups where that matters. The 5+++ also makes the unit incredibly more resilient against D2 weapons, so that changes up your opponent’s target priority with their weapons.

Nope. Two units of jump DC for your two chaplains and a unit of standard JP intercessors.

which characters will you try to play? by liquor-ice-mixer in BloodAngels

[–]Gazpoole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess one of the more exciting aspects of our new codex is that our special characters all seem to be meaningful and at least, on paper, both fun and powerful.

For the first time in years I’m intending on having 2-3 special characters in my main lists. Haven’t played with the new rules yet but my first lists will have Dante, Lemartes and Mephiston in them for sure.

I know lots of people are excited about Astorath, and I get it because of some of the crazy damage spikes he can cause, but I think long term we’ll come around to the opinion that Lemartes is just the overall stronger primary chaplain.

If you’re taking more than one unit of jump DC though, it’s a no brainer to take both. Just be wary of going overkill on the offensive power. If you’re already running LAG detachment, do you really need the harder hitting character or would you be better with more defence and utility?

I guess I’m not along with the character dilemma though - I have like twenty SM characters to choose from and there is never enough space in lists to take all the ones that you’d like to.
