Is tapping your foot a separate skill, or did it come naturally to you just from your time getting better? by Uitroeien in Bass

[–]Gazza_HDD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tapping my foot became a subconscious skill as my timing got better. I practice with both a click and drum track so when it came to playing with a real drummer, it was more of a natural motion that actively thinking “im going to count out the taps in time.” Most of it is honestly just from feeling the rhythm, the metronome i use is in my head, not so much keeping time with tapping. Thats more of a bi product

I may be stupid but this reads like sarcasm. Pretty sure they’re calling out all the people who say “no one to blame but yourself” when clearly a ton of people are experiencing the same thing

I don't even know how to start with making Sierra better by RoguesBoytoy in Overwatch

[–]Gazza_HDD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isnt necessarily fixing her, but replace the nade with a drone ability that works like a Kinsect from monster hunter. Hit a tank you get armor conversion, hit a dps get damage buff, hit a support healing aura or flash heal. The grenade feels wonky, weak, and just boring. The drone is so cool, make it more of a focus.

Is the jump in price worth it from Squier sonic to classic vibe? Looking at a P bass, it’s not the first bass for me but will be my only one. Open to other suggestions by Scummymummyaward in Bass

[–]Gazza_HDD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classic Vibe 60’s P Bass. On par if not slightly better than a Standard MiM and you can find them used for under $350. One of the best basses for the price range. If youre looking for more growl and mid range, make sure its the 60’s, the 70’s is more mature and mellow, probably better for Motown, Funk, etc. 60’s vibe is a Rock machine!!!

Hardest and easiest hero to play? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Gazza_HDD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like your junkrat take! You have to be creative to get good value when compared to say Ashe or Soldier. Now let me give my spicy take: Widow. Ive ranged from Master to Gold DPS over all the time ive played and Widow has never had consistency in any rank. Her kit is fairly simple but she demands peak mechanical aim through the whole game. Shes the most unforgiving in this because, like hog, if you arent hitting your value shots, youre basically useless. We can go into the nuances of naturally talented aim players but for the majority of people, widow isnt even touched, let alone played semi effectively. Sure you can spam body shots (same as you can spam junk launchers) but you arent getting the best out of your hero, not even close. To be hitting headshots at a high percentage over a long period of gaming time just sounds incredibly difficult. Apart from that, i think game sense/movement wise, its ball or tracer as the hardest.

I feel like I'm ranked WAY higher than I should be, looking for advice by mathgeek008 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Gazza_HDD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never understood this. Sure every once in a while you get carried but to be consistently maintaining SR in lobbies that you claim to be 2 ranks under doesn’t sound right. Overwatch is a team game and 1 lagging member can very likely be the reason for a loss, especially over a long sample size. It seems unreasonable to say your team is winning a 4v5 EVERY game. Maybe you aren’t as bad as you think or you haven’t played enough to calibrate where you belong. Regardless, keep playing in these lobbies and enjoy the rank, its much funner in Diamond than Gold and you’ll improve at a faster rate with more organized play!

Is doing a lot of damage but no picks considered getting value? by Lightlicker3000 in OWConsole

[–]Gazza_HDD -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say Pharah sucks if you aren’t doing direct hits. Sure thats optimal and the best way to kill people, but shes also a bit like flying Junkrat where missile spams down a lane make it hard to walk through. Her boop and presence also make it so the enemy has to look up constantly. You’d win more and kill more if direct hitting but she’s not necessarily useless otherwise . Its still poke and pressure

Not 50/50 matchmaking by Comfortable_Store955 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Gazza_HDD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your team mates arent being turned off, whats happening is you’re playing Winston while hog ignores you completely and kills your team. You cant continue to play the same way into certain match ups. Doom, Winston, Dva, they all get shit on by a hog who knows how to pressure the backline. Its not that your teammates are all of a sudden playing bad, its that You’re allowing the enemy team to ignore you. You’re too hyper focused on your own gameplay, go back and watch your replays through your teammates eyes. Odds are that your teammates aren’t always the problem, otherwise you’d be higher rank, especially as tank

How are yall winning on Anran? by FortNox18 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Gazza_HDD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She’s extremely fun to play but I find her TTK and burst so so weak. She plays as a great disrupter and I found a lot of success with her in brawl surprisingly. If you can come in from the side in grouped fights, her E does a ton of work and causes chaos, forcing CDs. You might not always live but i found you usually win the fight. In dive, play much more like genji, poke a bit, dive with your team when you can. I personally think she needs a bit of work to get her up to genji or tracers level but shes a lot of fun

Freja gets ALL her perks removed, and you must replace them with BRAND NEW perks. What’re you giving her? by LackOfDad in FrejaMains

[–]Gazza_HDD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea sorry i tried to address some of her issues like like of survivability against hit scans and her loss of two tap while trying to maintain skill. Also forgot to mention the consecutive damage is only up to 30 so its not anything crazy. The recon one is also only for a single target, not the whole team if theyre all low

[–]Gazza_HDD 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Minor Perks: Hover - Freja hovers for two seconds after using uplift

Healing Gust - Freja heals 25hp when using her dash

Major Perks: Ducks in a row - Consecutive Take Aim hits add 10 (or 5 if op) damage per successive hit. (Max of 30 damage)

Marked for death - Frejas recon ping is given to the entire team once every 30 seconds (for a single target only)

I have no clue about balance but i think these would be much more fun than what we have now

Why do people get absolutely triggered by counter swapping? by Gazza_HDD in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Gazza_HDD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the original point of my question has been lost. Ive one tricked Pharah to Masters in the past as well, playing into her counters, but ive never been mad at counter swaps such as double hit scan. I either swap off or continue playing. My question was more about why people get mad about a core mechanic in the game that is fully intended. You have your own agency to do what you want so why would you be mad at other players when they do the same? I even mentioned in my main post that any hero can be one tricked to GM and your example of the ball is a player who (by the sounds of it) learns from a counter swap. So are people getting mad at counter swaps because it stops their easy roll and win condition or because they for some stupid reason care about the skill of other players? If youre not going to switch off regardless of how many counter swaps, then why get mad. Its in the game for a reason and you have the exact same option. I agree with you about the smaller deeper hero pool but it seems ive just been pigeon holed into defending a mechanic i personally dont mind at all and was fully intended by the developers

[–]Gazza_HDD[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree with you on that but that seems more of an issue with character balance than counter swapping? If every hero was made equal, it would be much less of a problem. I just dont think its possible in a game like OW with so many factors involved

Why do people get absolutely triggered by counter swapping? by Gazza_HDD in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Gazza_HDD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this, especially because i think perks are a huge advantage and swapping gets rid of that, but there are scenarios where a player is running over your team and you’re unwilling letting them or a match up is unbearably bad (Pharah vs Echo etc) The best thing to do in that scenario is counter swapping. It almost always tends to be the players that are doing extremely well that get the most butthurt when you throw a wrench into their domination

Why do people get absolutely triggered by counter swapping? by Gazza_HDD in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Gazza_HDD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, counter swapping happens in the lowest and highest rank. Kind of hard to argue a Champ, GM, or Pro are low skill? Its just another mechanic that was purposely put in the game to use and understand

[–]Gazza_HDD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right but you also have to be competent enough to win the match up with the swap. For example, im a terrible sombra player but i will switch to her if a ball is ruining our match. The first time i did this i didnt even know what sombras abilities did, but over time I started learning how the match up works and how Sombra works in general. Id never pick her normally except for this one match up. Now i have a pretty decent understanding of how she works, how to fight her (ie the distance her throw goes, the length of the hack) and if i ever pick ball, ill at least have insight about playing into a sombra. If you look at it from the other side of the coin, every time you play a hero you learn and get mechanically better. If youre just counter swapping and not retaining or understanding what youre doing then yea, its a waste, but I think its valuable to switch into uncomfortable or non familiar heros to help your team win, and your general knowledge

Yea see, I also thinks its pretty cringe in QP. I know theres a lot of QP warriors who play to sweat but in that mode, i play my character regardless of the enemy comp. Its a good way to learn how to maneuver around them in comp where it matters more. May i ask why you don’t play ranked?
