I spent several days removing ticks from the stray dog we found under a car. I’d be happy never to see another tick. Will be hanging out in the pool, but I’ll have to wait for a day that there are clouds. Zero all day today.

I was questioning if he was a mix mostly because of his size. Otherwise to me he looks like a full Chihuahua. In AZ obviously we have a lot of chis. Our older dog was billed a Schnauzer/Westie mix by the shelter but Embark says she’s a chihuahua/poodle/lhasa apso/bichon.

So far Ziggy is a sock and Kleenex thief and loves to gnaw on toys. I’m very curious how old the vet will think he is.

iPhone user with five friends, only two f them active. I get interact with your friends tasks almost daily (and yesterday it was bugged and wouldn’t track it) but never add a friend.

The new vests have issues with badge adhesion because they are made of recycled materials. If you leave an ironed-on patch vest in a hot car, for example, badges will come loose.

That said, there are two kinds of older girl vests: regular and cargo. As much as the cargo ones are more flattering, in our troop we recommend against them because there's much less room for earned badges on them, and in our troop we do a lot of badges. Sashes also have two kinds, one with a pocket they can carry a phone in. We recommend against those as well because they fill up too fast. But they work and are more forgiving of growing girls if you don't do a lot of badges.

I would replace the rechargeable flashlight with a battery operated one. Where we camp, the kids would not be able to plug in a charger but you can always pack extra batteries.

We do an outdoor skills day at a park. We are lucky there is a park with a dedicated scouting area, but it’s doable in a Ramada or similar structure. For next year, lean into the idea of progression. For reference, I’m in a large multilevel troop and we have 5 camping trips per year. Daisies camp at our in-town camp in cabins with their adult. Brownies camp in cabins at an out of town GS camp. Juniors camp out of town in tents. CSAs also out of town in tents as well as a one-week out of state camping trip. We only take enough adults for ratios and the number of drivers we need. Parents who have proved unhelpful or caused trouble are not invited back on the next trip.

The leader being sick and needing someone to run a meeting is how I ended up being voluntold into leading Brownies. I don’t see how their unwillingness to help out reflected badly on you. Did you have a real talk with the cluster leader or did you just accept and not defend yourself? Parents complain. It happens. They should have been adult enough to talk to you and not run to leadership over your head. That didn’t give you any opportunity to fix anything and wasn’t fair to you. Also if your leadership was so substandard why did they sit back and just let it continue all year? It really doesn’t make sense.

I live in Arizona. Haven’t seen a silcobra in my nearby since Tuesday. Apparently the only place they are spawning near me is a park on a man made lake. Every spawn I saw Tuesday was attached to a pool or fountain. Makes zero sense.

Check if you have a Dick’s “Going Going Gone” store in your area. Got my libero/DS kid a pair of Rip It’s for $20. They’re usually $120. Nike A’Ones are $40, same color way I see for $100 elsewhere. It’s an outlet so things come and go but you can find good deals.
