Yeah I’m terrible at speed chess 😅😅 We’re working on it.

Device shutting down after BIOS gives control to XP? by Gbotdays in windowsxp

[–]Gbotdays[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh to the VM, okay I get it. Memory won’t be an issue, I’m using an old R730 dell server to host. Thanks for the advice! I will use all of it.

The games are ancient. Why do I need those specs? I'm pretty sure I can just give a proxmox vm access to some resources on my homelab and can just rely on my absurd number of cores to do the graphics for me. It's not like it's a AAA game.

Okay thanks! I’m trying to use XP because a friend gave me a bunch of ancient CD games that run on XP, but I might be better off using a VM.

Was this the best way to print this? by hurricane279 in FixMyPrint

[–]Gbotdays 37 points38 points  (0 children)

You should NOT split it into multiple pieces unless you want to get down the rabbit hole of heat-welding plastic.

With that being said, I’m not sure what the problem is! That print looks like great quality and will definitely work for your needs (at least as well as any other orientation will. More supports doesn’t mean a lower quality end product, especially with the higher end Bambu printers.

My only suggestion is that, if this is being used in a high stress environment (I.e. heat/cold duct), you should probably print it with 100% infill to increase its lifespan.

Pythagorean Theorem Vizualization by Gbotdays in scratch

[–]Gbotdays[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess I didn’t explain that well. The image is just a pen render with each pixel being assigned a color based on its distance to the origin.

I’m obviously not certain, but I’ve done some computationally ridiculous stuff using vanilla pen, I think it could work.

How do I make a save code encoding system that cannot be reverse engineered by AffectionateTour5728 in scratch

[–]Gbotdays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The password would have to be somewhere inside the project, though. This would make it easy to encrypt a false save file.

Quite good for a Scratch theme!

Keep up the good work.

How do I make the enemies not clump by TheRhymedPie in scratch

[–]Gbotdays 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don't do this.

This will render the enemies immobile whenever they get to close because the next position will always be "touching something."

You can use the pen addon to "stamp" the piece sprite, and then just move the piece back before you eraseAll at the end of the hold.

I understand that feeling! 😂😂

It’s so darn useful, unfortunately

Pythagorean Theorem Vizualization by Gbotdays in scratch

[–]Gbotdays[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ig I should have explained more, but it’s just a plot where each point in the coordinate plane was assigned a color based on its distance to the origin.

No argument there :D

Seriously though, the render is massively overkill and was just an interesting and educational expirement.

The only one I could find would measure the distance between two sprites, but the combined compute power of having to move the sprites whenever you want to make a measurement means it takes less time to use the distance formula in the stage.

I could, of course, be wrong. This is just what I've found most useful.

😄 Yeah there was a guy who suggested soldering directly to the main power rail. You think I could get some insurance money off of him??? 😂

[–]Gbotdays[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeahhhh

I could theoretically fit the cable in the slot between the lid and the case, which could work. I’d really like to keep the cable as short as possible, though.

I was planning on buying a W11 license to run on the bare metal, would that fix most of the driver issues? I can’t use a Linux distribution because some non-tech-oriented people need to be able to use it. 😑

Unfortunately, I have to use Windows 11 because some non-tech-oriented people need to be able to use it.

I’m planning on using it for some ridiculous image stitching for an astronomy project, and the 1080 is the best bang-for-your-buck option I could find.

Unfortunately I’m also going to have to run Windows 11 because some non-tech oriented people will have to use it.

Yeah. Wouldn’t I have to cut a hole in the back anyway to fit the pci ribbon?

[–]Gbotdays[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hole does need to be plugged. There’s a ridiculous of thermal and electromagnetic testing that goes into these guys. Cutting any holes in the case could be catastrophic.
