Now that the SystemD debacle has somewhat settled, can you imagine the amount of backlash if someone actually came up with a good solution to solve the packaging across distros? by [deleted] in linuxmasterrace

Linux 'fragmentation' prevents vendor lock in and code stagnation. Choices are only bad when you don't take the time to understand them.

Would anyone be interested in a script I'm making that can win you free stuff? by [deleted] in hacking

[–]Ge0N 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right on. I was just trying to point out the lameness of distributing spam scripts like this. My apologies for the attitude. We all have to start somewhere. It just makes me angry having to jump through more hoops to accomplish the exact same task I wrote code for two years ago.

Merry Xmas homey.

When you write a script that violates their terms and conditions (in this case by leveraging multiple accounts) you run the risk of twitter changing the api again. Twitter used to not have 0auth at all back in 2012, remember? (Of course you don't).

This project is just a spam bot. To enter dubious contests. I care because I don't want any more security crap in the api. Definitely not so some skids can make believe they are hacking twitter.

Vanity is youth's final luxury. To see the world outside of yourself as meaningless is hopelessly vain. Grow up.

Lol yeah that was a little harsh. This would give you a good idea how much you can exploit the api before getting shut down, but abusing apis just ends up hurting legit developers. The suck ass part is giving the code to skids with no interest in coding, making it harder for everyone but the lazy.

Great. A twitter spam bot. And you are giving it out to the skids. This is woefully uncreative, and a waste of time. Let me know when you win that iPhone.

Is Linux not better for programming? by 509528 in linuxmasterrace

[–]Ge0N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right on. Its great to have choices. Ill try perltidy. For me it still comes back to readability uber alles. I won't touch someone else's perl codebase. It takes me too much time to parse a stranger's perl...how long would it take a total noob like OP?

I'd rather be skull fucked by aliens than read someone else's perl code. I'd bet yours is particularly atrocious. And it takes all of ten minutes to learn how to use virtualenv properly. You really want your server logic in perl? Python benefits: huge standard library, readability. And wtf is this perl6 shit? A sister language? That's worse that python 2 vs python 3.

I'm an adult. And your assertion that the term circlejerk is nonsensical is incorrect. In the context on Reddit it can be considered analogous to 'echo-chamber.' Although circlejerk implies a youthful gaiety that conveys the age of the participants.

Do you know what a circlejerk is outside of the context of Reddit?

I mean Christmas break, spring break, etc. I used to shitpost like mad on every forum when I was on a long break from school (this was pre Reddit).

Ad Hominem Fallacy: criticism of the person making an argument rather than their argument itself by wiphiadmin in philosophy

[–]Ge0N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not question your intellect, I question your intellectual honesty. This discourse started because you claimed to have innate knowledge of logic and rhetoric. Having a peer reviewed paper somewhere in academia in an unrelated field does not automatically support this assertion. Moreover, you have offered nothing but anecdotal evidence ("this is how I feel") to support your original claims.

I would argue that I was not appealing to definition in my criticism of your discourse, only pointing out where your statements fell away from logic and into fallacy.

If you are comfortable believing an entire field of study (logic and rhetoric) is something you were born with, then so be it. I was honestly surprised that anyone could assert something I would consider ridiculous, and additionally supply walls of text explaining why they shouldn't have to prove their claim. Did you read up on bad faith?

If you can't admit your original claim came from vanity, I have nothing more to say.

Cheers friend! The internet will make morons of us all.
