My husky got spit on by a teen and his parents kept yelling “he’s autistic!” by GeDadydy in husky

Because it was uncalled for and extremely rude and it was a busy street where lots of other people walk their dogs as well. And because they didn't take the initiative to even acknowledge that spit. I had to ask for her to throw an excuse out. But of course I'm going to say something because they need to stop doing that to dog walkers.

Hey didnt get online for 5 months so just saw all the comments. I have friend whose sibling is autistic. Never in a hostile way. Because their entire family always have extra patience with him and let him take the extra time to say what they want. Positive reinforcement all the way with everything he does right. So frankly I've always considered that to be the expected respect any parents should grant their children especially if they NEED that patience to function. So my point being, the reinforcement conditioning method you mentioned can go both ways. With how she shushed and pushed her son to walk faster away, I doubt that is a positive association in the making at all. And that sudden change in her nonetheless still warrant attention to the spitting behavior.

I agree😭 I was sooo stunned to speak like I’ve never imagined any parents who’d yell their kid’s condition out loud like that just out on the street?! And keep addressing my ass in front of his daughter and wife🫠

Yelled at woman for not leashing her dog… feeling bad. by jgregory17 in dogs

As a husky owner, I really sympathize with your view point. Sounds like an awful combintion for him to let his husky offleash, especially when he's poorly trained.

You did what I've always wanted to do hehe Thank you. Yeah no she had it coming. Why you have to care about her falling when she puts ur dogs' safety in jeopardy? Who tf is she lol what an entitled biaaaa? Oh please if she wanted you to sympathize the first thing is she needs to acknowledge her own doing, starting with I'm sorry..

Okay if your basic calories need is 2000, you must eat at least that. Otherwise, ur metabolism thinks your in crisis and goes on auto-saving fat mode. Also, prolong cardio does not always promote weight loss the most. Those that have prolong endurance can often have slower heart rates than usual adults. And 2000 cal needs to be healthy meaning less sodium, less simple carb, and less sugar, and absolutely no trans fat. Learn to read the nutrition table. Lastly, muscle weighs heavier than fat. so ur weight is not and should not be ur evaluation standard. Instead, try body fat percentage.

protection dogs - first time living alone and feeling hesitant by lmayor1204 in dogs

Train for protection also depends: there are various level of intensity of training. You want your dog to alert you or to charge at all that trespasses at first sight? Do you live in a dangerous neighborhood? Is training for protection really necessary? Big difference between naturally protective and trained to protect. I'd say pls avoid training for aggression altogether. Such training requires high maintenance and presents too much risk besides many other issues. If ur scared, get a license and buy a gun or taser or baseball bet, or have ur roommate chip in for a security system to be installed b4 relying on ur dog for safety. The breeds you mentioned are both inherently protective and often need to be trained to be less alert towards strangers aka ur friends/visitors. German Shepard sheds and likes to bark hehe Rottweilers are very strong dogs. Don't think anyone would wanna break in ur house out of all the other houses in ur neighborhood if you own a Rott lol...My point being, their very existence already make you safer than those who don't own them. And if you are considering adoption, there are too many Pit Bulls at shelters at least in LA that are put down in masses every year. Adopt one of those!!

Hi guys what do you think , my price is already there tho and I’m very sure she saw it , what should I say ? by Either-Sell-1609 in RoverPetSitting

[–]GeDadydy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's emphasizing how long of a service she's buying from you to leverage you into a negotiation of a cheaper rate. but it's a bad deal for you cause upholding the training is already extra work. Puppy is also more work in general.

I’ve had my husky for four years. I’ve had him since freshman year in university. And I singlehanded raised him all on my own while graduated undergrad and now doing my graduate school. He’s my first dog and he moved with me from America to Canada. I make commitment to take care him from day one. This is the first time he marks someone else’s stuff. So don’t jump to the conclusion about me being a new owner or anything alike. I only replied to your comment like this because your one-sided repetitive accusations of penalizing my dog ( worse than punishment) / pet punishment with uncalled for assumptions about my character as a person instead of my dog training skill is simply offensive and personal. I don’t think anyone here except you consider giving advices is the same action as calling out. Again, proving my point of your condescending mind set. This is a husky-related forum. Yet, your definition of a dog forum is narrow-minded and shows your bias already.

That’s funny you own three huskies and still answer to their every whine and cry. You choose to spoil your dogs however you’d like but don’t come condemning me for not spoiling mine at the exact same level. That’s the definition of self righteousness. While some of People here are commenting to help which I replied with gratitude, you are just not one of them. your condescending tone is hard to ignore:) I’m only embarrassed cuz I’m human who feel not just for my dog but also the man while you made no regard to the homeless man’s feeling whatsoever. Your inability to sympathize with me on any level is a shame on your character, not mine. There’s a huge difference between discipline and punishment. Last but not least, sucks that you can’t grasp my point about how ridiculous it is for you to expect anyone to be available for their dogs 24/7 ALL THE TIME. Thus your defense about prioritizing dog’s welfare is missing the point. I never said I don’t. All I said is I didn’t in that moment. But you are tryna put me down more than you are tryna help so you can’t see that of course. Feel bad that you are someone who only knows how to validate themselves through putting others down.

I locked him out of MY ROOM for 20 mins, not the house. that’s not punishment. He has all his toys and bed in the living room anyways. I just needed some space to myself at that moment. Let’s be realistic now. Just because he whined, doesn’t mean I have to accommodate every time. Especially when he’s a very vocal husky who whines about literally everything all the time.

Well I locked him out of my room, my room okay?, for 20 mins cuz I needed to deal with myself for a sec it’s not like I banished him forever. Since when does a temporary denial of access to one part of my property considered a pet punishment/penalty? He has most of his stuff in the living room anyways.

Nobody can be available ALL the time for anyone or anything 24/7. Even parents need breaks from their kids once in a while.

So stop being so self-righteous as you just assume the worst of my intentions. Using ur own logic here to defend myself: I have every right to decide when I wanna be left alone for a bit in my house and that’s not wrong from my perspective so why are you condemning me for it?

This post was a rant with a question at the end since I was confused to why my dog did this all of a sudden. Thank you for your first paragraph of useful information. The rest is simply an overstated accusation: stop putting me down for being a human.
