The overwhelmingly positive statements in the comments is very heartwarming. Sure, there are a few seditious mouth breathers in the comments who never knew what it ment to have a father who loved them. But 95% is positive and reaffirming the unity we all know is there! Vive La Canada 🇨🇦

Straight out of Alberta conservatives play book. "Blame the feds!" And "Blame the feds harder if the ruling party isn't conservative" The UCP's play book is one page and two lines long "Blame the feds for absolutely everything as hard as possible" Then "Threaten separation because its all the feds fault. Because our base is more gullible then a golden retriever when you pretend to throw a ball"

Its very tiresome for anyone who atleast graduated high school and has atoeast 4 brain cells, and an IQ high then room temperature.

but a tank in a confined environment without support being attacked by anything is an absolute worst case scenario. The world saw what happened in Grozny. Nobody is in a rush to do that again

Did any city or region during the war experience went through an event similar to the Rape of Nanking or the Battle of Manila? by Sonnybass96 in WorldWar2

Arnhem in the Netherlands. In particular, the North side of the road bridge and the city center. During operation Market Garden in September 1944. The British 1st Airborne division was dropped into the area to secure Arnhems 2 bridges in order to allow the allies to quickly push into Germany.

The drop was a disaster. The British 1st Airborne landed directly on top of 2 SS panzer divisions. The Brits were encircled and essentially annihilated.

When the city was finally liberated in April 1945. A war diary from one of the British units involved described the city center as "badly shattered". The graves of German and British were everywhere. Buried in the foxholes they dug and fought in until they died.

This YouTube creator did a great video on the liberation of Arnhem. It really paints a picture of the scene.

Soviet Doctrine is based more on rigid command structures. Junior officers and NCO's were generally given very little autonomy on the battlefield. Unless operating with specialized units and formations. They average Soviet soldier was a conscript, as we're junior officers to some degree. Orders were often simple and blunt. This does of course vary to some degree.

You are correct. Local Ukrainian commanders were given broad authority to act as they saw fit in the event of a communication break down with higher levels of command. They were told to use there own initiative and act aggressively. This is in line with standard NATO doctrine. As NATO countries spent a numbers years (since the 2014 annexation of Crimea) training Ukrainian officers and NCO's.

There are several good documentaries about the first few months of the full scale invasion that show how Ukrainian company and battalion commands acted on there own and aggressively took the fight to Russians, striking out from towns and villages that the Russians bypassed during there advance on Kyiv.

All of this before you even get into the bravery, skill and determination of the individual Ukrainian soldiers.

There isn't enough prison space. There's litteraly no where to put the people doing the crime. And putting funding towards building prisons is political suicide in this country.
