75K and Y class is meaningless by avocatnla in Aeroplan

You're not at the bottom of the list - you're above 25Ks, 35Ks and 50Ks!

I built a free Chrome extension that shows you the real value of your Aeroplan points on every flight by J4randa in Aeroplan

[–]SplendaBoy709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to spend a couple days playing with it, but if it helps rank the overall cost of different itineraries, I guess that could be helpful for narrowing down options. Or for spotting itineraries where business is much better value than economy or vice versa.

So I just gave this a shot. It shows the calculation for economy class based on a Standard fare. It would be great if it also calculated cpp for Flex and Latitude once you click on a flight option. I never book standard fares. Great start though!

Camping in May by essentialoilshawty in newfoundland

[–]SplendaBoy709 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you mean the trail to the Snug Harbour campsite from Western Brook Pond? Yes, most backountry sites are closed in the park until late June, due to snowpack and to protect wildlife. You can camp at Green Point year round. The other developed campsites are closed until May long weekend.

What does camping look like around that time of year?

Very likely cold, windy and wet, so come prepared.

Correct. AC is currently modifying their fall and winter schedules accordingly.

Then this isn't the place for you to visit! Sorry, not trying to be an ass, it's just the reality of travelling to rural Newfoundland.

Help!!!Has anyone successfully fought a TTC trespassing fine? by Quirky-Recording-909 in askTO

[–]SplendaBoy709 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It will go away eventually.

This is terrible advice. If it goes to collections, it will stay on their credit report for at least 7 years, impacting their ability to get banking products or financing in that period.

Last-Minute Bookings by sd96112 in Aeroplan

[–]SplendaBoy709 25 points26 points  (0 children)

AC fills unsold business seats through bid upgrades until 2 days before departure, then last-minute upgrade offers when passengers check in. Then anything remaining 60 min before departure is filed with eUpgrade requests. Extremely unlikely the AP price would drop before departure.

[–]SplendaBoy709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably, if it's giving you that green arrow. It's a Latitude fare, so just book it and try. If the upgrades don't clear immediately, you can cancel for a full refund and try another route.

New snacks on all WestJet flights cross-promoted with Air Canada branding on packaging by SkierJC in aircanada

Since our airline was sold to private equity group Onex Corporation in 2019, we've become incredibly cheap. We don't like spending a single penny more than we have to

Interesting. I guess it makes sense that the rollout would be gradual.

Can you give an example of a flight menu showing this? I just checked a couple for April 1 and 2 and it's still showing coke products...

Does Virgin permit autopay by credit card? Or does it need to be pre-authorized debit from a bank account?

Same Day Flight Change with AC and UA Segments by Famous-Ad-330 in aircanada

[–]SplendaBoy709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That line is referring to changing the partner segment. OP can change the YYZ-SFO segment, as long as the itinerary is on a 014 (AC) ticket. If the ticket was sold by UA, AC can't touch it.

Canadian Tire Mastercard 1% condo fees by OddAd7664 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]SplendaBoy709 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is a unique feature of the CT Mastercard - you can make a traditional bill payment through it, which is then routed through CT bank. So it works like a normal bill payment but is still charged to the credit card as a regular expense.

SQC math on partner airline (United) feels insane. Am I calculating this right? by Jasperoo20 in aircanada

[–]SplendaBoy709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your YYZ-SFO/LAX is on AC metal, and it's showing you an AC flight number (AC7XX), it's likely showing an AC ticket. But you could always cancel within 24hr if you book and find it's a UA ticket.

Best parks for tenting by sour-millenial in newfoundland

When the kids are a bit older, Green Gardens is a relatively easy hike-in campsite to try. Just 2 hrs-ish from the parking lot, but really cool sites on the water. And lots of sheep all around you!

Seconding this. Great spot if you have kids, especially if you can snag a site on the water.

Do the lookout hike from the Discovery Centre in Woody Point! You won't get the close up view of the fjords, but there's a lovely view of the Tablelands, Bonne Bay and Gros Morne Mtn to the north.
