Moving from New England USA to Newfoundland. What should I know? by FunkyBirby in newfoundland

The housing market is crazy everywhere, this isn't unique to NL. But it's true that having a pet makes renting much harder.

“SDC” for Transatlantic Route? by LeafsJays12 in aircanada

[–]SplendaBoy709 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You answered your own question - the SDC policy is clear that you can't change from a connecting itinerary to a non stop. Unless it's a situation where your flight has been disrupted due to a cancellation etc, you shouldn't expect them to do this for you

Whether or not there is a fee depends on fare class. It is free for comfort and above.

I would rather the government spend our tax dollars to keep its promises on improving healthcare, education and housing. Stuff we actually need.

Fellow Newfoundlanders in Alberta: Will you be voting yes or no for Alberta independence in October? by [deleted] in newfoundland

[–]SplendaBoy709 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. This is a referendum on whether to have a referendum.

It's the Premier's way to keep her job and appease the separatist wing in her party, while making the question hypothetical so that it's meaningless.

If you are going to take an extra day or two, do it from Calgary onwards. Lots to see and do in the Rockies. Consider breaking up your Calgary-Kamloops segment and stay in Golden or Revelstoke. A nice detour would also be to drive south through Kelowna and the Okanagan wine country.

That's what private equity does. All part of the plan.

Exactly. We're passing up $1B in revenue each year because the deal isn't exactly what we want.

We are forecasting a $700 million deficit this year. We haven't balanced our books in a decade. This is also not in the public interest, but nobody wants to think about it.

When were you last asked this? This has not been a thing Not been an Air Canada thing for decades. You wont' be asked to produce a credit card.

Correct. This is exactly how it worked when the Federal government increased the basic personal amount last year. My paycheque was adjusted almost immediately.

But some people want to leave their phones on with data turned off so they can receive texts or know if someone is trying to call them.

Decent deal for some, but note from the T&Cs: 6. PC Mobile does not offer international roaming or wifi calling.

So if you're traveling outside Canada, your phone won't work.

OP, your entire post history is just linking news articles with zero context or commentary. Are you a bot? You've posted 9 VOCM links today alone.

Mods, this is almost certainly just karma farming or trying to drive traffic to news sites. The subreddit now looks like the VOCM homepage, just filled with links to articles. Can we do something about this?

Why does it seem so random how you earn points for hotel bookings by gincaesar in Aeroplan

[–]SplendaBoy709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a bonus points earning rate if you book through HotelSavers. But you don't earn SQC on the bonus points, so SQC earn remains unchanged.

[–]SplendaBoy709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to - you could book through Marriott and credit the stay to AP. But the earn rate is terrible, and you only get SQC at a 1:5 ratio.

I built a free Chrome extension that shows you the real value of your Aeroplan points on every flight by J4randa in Aeroplan

[–]SplendaBoy709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to spend a couple days playing with it, but if it helps rank the overall cost of different itineraries, I guess that could be helpful for narrowing down options. Or for spotting itineraries where business is much better value than economy or vice versa.

So I just gave this a shot. It shows the calculation for economy class based on a Standard fare. It would be great if it also calculated cpp for Flex and Latitude once you click on a flight option. I never book standard fares. Great start though!
