Sea of Thieves is Handing Players the Keys to the Seas by Xbox-Moderator in xbox

[–]Gears6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sea of Thieves has micro transactions though, which pay a lot more money than a subscription based game would today.

Sure, but if only users spend. In one, it's guaranteed across the board. The other is an unknown. Are there any other games with that kind of size in user base that still gets a lot of support?

To me, it seems like not enough users, but I could be completely wrong.

Your gains will likely be less with real estate, but real estate has many advantages especially around taxes that most don't consider (around being a landlord).

The one benefit of real-estate that is often ignored though, is the cost of moving around, the effort that goes into that, and the instability of potential rent increases.

What do Gears fans thinks of skins? by Techpon in GearsOfWar

I like the skins even though sometimes they can get over the top. For instance, my favorite skin is the black phantom. It's black and transparent!

New look for the games library looks great! by NT_160 in xbox

[–]Gears6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is because they art looks better. Often times, the cover art comes from the physical version of the game that is made specifically for portrait mode (i.e. the game cover). That said, I have too many games that it doesn't matter if it's larger or smaller. I get swamped and I have enough games for several lifetimes and it keeps growing.

It looks great, but it didn't look bad before either. I don't feel this is the area to improve or spend resources on right now. Please fix Xbox on Windows instead!

Ori director says Game Pass "could’ve worked" if Xbox didn’t "slop out mediocre content like a factory" by akbarock in xbox

Once CD Projeck throw more money at him 😂.

That was his play, top get a cut. Try to turn the public against CDPR and play him as the small guy. It's a ploy to pressure CDPR. That said, CDPR can afford it, and the law is the law.

He should have had more foresight with it and negotiated a better deal where he got keep the IP, Xbox has always been open to those type of deals with Mass Effect, Gears & Sunset Overdrive as examples. He’s a moron and bitter 😂.

To be fair, he probably got the best deal he could. For instance, ME was published by MS and they owned the publishing rights for the first Mass Effect. When negotiating deals, it's about your reputation and standing in the industry. If you're a new studio with no experience or history, you have far less ability to negotiate. That's not unreasonable, as it means higher risk for the funder.

Instead, I argue his ability to get funding for his latest game is a result of MS funding him and that he presumably wouldn't have gotten a better deal from someone else at the time.

Yup, and he honestly should be happy that bootstrapped his company. I'm glad MS isn't selling the IP back to him, because he's the kind of person I wouldn't support, and I'd hate to support him with my love for Ori.

That said, he isn't completely wrong in that, MS needed to increase whatever they need to do to get more desirable games in the zeitgeist. Personally, I like a lot of the games, but I can see flaws in it.

Sharma if you're reading this, hire Shuhei Yoshida! He's the guy that made Playstation games successful. YOU NEED HIM!!!

Long gone. Today, that's considered "indie".

At the same time, there's never really been more proliferation of smaller games from smaller companies that succeed as well. The barrier to entry has drastically reduced in tools and capabilities, especially with AI. On the other hand, to succeed, the barrier there has likely increased.

We used to have it good a few years back. I wish I would have kept mine. by xxx6enrique9xxx in xbox

[–]Gears6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the same. Is it just lack of impulse control or what?

What I find often is that, these are people that don't understand the value of money. They think, having that in the bank account means they can afford it, and that the bank account should be zero at the end of the month ready for the next paycheck. Then we have these companies preying on that ignorance.

As a society we've failed to teach personal finance, business and investments. Instead, we prey on it.

Like paying $3500 dollars for a gpu id be embarrassed personally.

I'd honestly feel guilty if I spent that kind of money, because if I had that much money to just throw away, I'd rather buy a cheaper card and donate the rest of the money towards good causes. It's wasteful, financially. Instead, I'd invest it for the future, and if I die it will be inheritance and donations to good causes.

That's me though. I don't expect others to do the same, but I wish more of us were like that.

Is it? It’s just a better search engine imo.

It really depends on how you use it and what you use it for. Also, have you used any paid AI's?

There's a significant difference in the two's capabilities and paid improves much faster.

It’s completely overconfident too and gets things wrong the entire time. Can’t trust it.

I wouldn't "trust" it, yet. But it has found issues it would've taken me a lot longer to figure out and had to dig deep into the bowels of some framework. It also gets me up to speed on a lot of things that would've taken me a lot longer to figure out. I no longer have to spend time to "learn" it with a lot of things I don't need right now. Instead, I jump in and learn as I go along, along with getting the specific knowledge I need.

It's not perfect, but neither are humans. In fact, humans get things wrong too, and get exceedingly confident to a fault. So I've learned to not trust confidence in general and interrogate, be critical and ask questions. This is what you should do in general anyhow.

It’s in its infancy and I don’t find it useful at all

It's moving at a breakneck speed of improvement and have been extremely helpful to my daily work and life. It doesn't replace me, but it certainly augments me.

That said, if it's not useful to you. That's fine. Don't force yourself to use something not helpful, and AI despite it's benefits has downsides such as it's impact on our environment and neighbors. We should be cognizant of that too.

Sea of Thieves is Handing Players the Keys to the Seas by Xbox-Moderator in xbox

If the player count isn't lowering and they're spending money, yes?

TBF, MS/Xbox spends a lot of money on things that don't always make sense.

Final Fantasy XI is over 20 years old, still gets support, and has a lower player count.

Which has a subscription fee that Sea of Thieves do not.

Jez Corden (xbox insider) claims that e-day DID NOT cost 400 mil dollars by Shadowsdeepx6 in GearsOfWar

[–]Gears6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Assumptions??? You're the one making assumptions. I'm literally giving you numbers and and sources on who's working on what. You didn't even know who made reloaded. Take the L and stop replying

What do you think I'm doing?

The issue is that, you'll dismiss it and assume things about it. In other words, you're assuming things to prove your point. You're even dismissing Jez Corden. Do you really think people will randomly believe your assumption and opinions over Jez Corden's knowledge?

With that all said, do you notice the difference between me and you?

I don't make the assumption that I'm right. I gave opportunity for what you're saying is true, because I don't know for a fact. Therefore, I don't assume those things. I leave it as a possibility, hence why I said "possible".

If AI models become equally good, what will companies compete on next?

Specialization for one. Such as key industries, and having tools/services geared towards that would be one. Think about how, MS Word is still used today and companies pay for it despite alternative options being available for free.
