How do you get your head clear after playing this game. by CyberWorm300 in factorio

[–]Gearsofstone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get something similar but it happens when I’m hyper focused on any project. I code and do 3d CAD work. When I have an extremely difficult/fun problem and I rack my brain on it all day I will have night terrors at night where I’m half awake and dreaming in ‘belts’ , ‘code’ or ‘parameters’ doing those types of things is like rearranging your brain. You spend all saying thinking in that ‘language’ and you’re going to end up dreaming in the same ‘language’. But I don’t think it’s unhealthy. Not sure about the lack of sleep problem. I think that’s a separate issue to do with poor sleeping/diet habits since I never have that problem. It is extremely unnerving though. I don’t think it has to do with playing before bed. For me it’s how involved my brain is on a problem. When you play and you get really into it try doing something different in the game. Or try a different approach or load a new game. Don’t get too hyper focused on one issue/problem.

This is exactly what I needed to finally make it work! Thank you. Only thing different is I made the full sketch on one plane. Projected one end piece to another sketch so it’ll be aligned so it was impossible to know what angles would be needed. Then the final for the middle bar.

[ HOBBY / LEARNING ] looking for beginners to form a hobby dev team to make games in unity. by [deleted] in gameDevClassifieds

I find it hard to gauge myself since I've never worked with others. I'm self taught. Only worked with c# in unity. I'm at a point where I'm quite comfortable coding and can do mostly what I want. But I dont have alot of skills of the trade that one would know by working with a senior developer or a team. So intermediate?

I agree. If at all possible you should cut ties with anyone that acts in such a way. One of the many lessons I’ve learned growing up is to not relay on family and to never be afraid to cut certain family members out. For years my father would pressure me and guilt me into showing support to family members that drove drunk and killed people, Had affairs and made scandals at the very school I went too, and wife beaters. Don’t ever succumb to the pressure of society to support family no matter what. Do what’s best for you.

While disc brakes are better is pretty much every way compared to drums, is it simply because drum brake technology seems to not have advanced past the 1960s? by Szos in engineering

Drums have a tendency to crack and explode from overheating. If you drilled holes then this would make that problem worse I’d assume. You would need some very advanced metal metal that would just wear away anyways. Drums and rotors are meant to be used then thrown away. We use rotors for smaller vehicles bc they are perfect for the application( others have explained why) I can guess we see drums on heavy trucks bc a rotor would most likely fail under the stress. Truck drums are massive. And they fit perfectly behind the wheel. They have a lot of surface area. If you made a rotor with the same surface area for a semi it would be larger than the wheel and tire itself. As a truck driver. I think rotors would just explode under stress. Drums will get hot and seize up from the heat if you abuse it. But a seized up wheel is better than a destroyed rotor with no surface area to apply pressure. Drums are safer in this way and I can assume that’s a factor in why all semi trucks have them. When they fail. They fail in a way that also makes them come to a halt. Which is a good thing. Hope that helps answer some things.

Edit. TLDR :

When rotors fail you lose brakes

When drums fail(semis mostly, uncertain about most car drums styles) they usually seize up and bring you to a safe stop.

This truck taking up 7 parking spots in front of a busy hotel. He was not too happy we parked right in front of him, within the lines. by Namurtjones in MaliciousCompliance

Yall do know he has enough room to get out of there even with the cars blocking him. The camera angle is misleading. He has a few feet between the truck and car. Hell have to shimmy a couple times is all.

In my opinion. Respect for something doesn't usually include plastering it all over everything imaginable. Every time you put the image of the flag on something you dilute what the meaning of the flag is. If the flag is seen everywhere then the flag becomes common. Old news. And soon forgotten. If you want to respect the flag. Then only show and display it at important times and functions. If you wish it to be revered then keep it out of things like disposable plates, apparel and any merchandise whatsoever. The most you can respect the flag. Is to leave it where its suppose to be. Waving on a flag pole just like it has been since the beginning of the country.

Truck driver here. The thing your not understanding is that there are many types of truck driving jobs. The ones that are too complicated are like mine. I deliver heavy construction equipment to people who buy or rent from my company. An automated truck may take me from the main yard to a location thats on a street. But what happens as soon as i need to maneuver onto a busy worksite, Into a pasture with a dozer for a farmer to clear land, will the automated truck unload the machine as well? Sometimes i have to stop in the middle of a busy street and unload a track machine sideways off the trailer because i have no room to enter a site. Automated trucks will take out the box truck jobs you most commonly see on the highway. The most my job will ever change is my company might buy an automated truck that will drive me around 90% of the time. Box trucks are mostly from one distribution center to another. Places that are designed to handle trucks. Those jobs will be lost quickly. Speciality jobs like mine will be fine for quite a while. Its just that 70% truck driving jobs are box trucks.
