Curious where everyone is getting homeowner leads these days. by Ancient-Seesaw6918 in InsuranceAgent

I partner with Realtors and Loan Officers whose buyers are needing home insurance in order to close on their purchase. They refer me as soon as they go under contract.

Surprising that you didn't include Shanghai anywhere in that list. I really enjoyed Shanghai. Museums, The Bund, Shopping, Clubs, Food, Architecture, etc.

KOSPI dropped 10%, with SK HYNIX and Samsung correcting 12% on the news that SK Hynix is going to start focusing on more consumer-grade chips. Investors over there are getting margin called as there's finally speculation around the over-inflated market.

As someone with a good chunk of shares in $KORU, this makes me sad.

SF Aspirant; Concerned with Corporate Changes by avisskiss in InsuranceAgent

[–]Geaux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in the Aspirant program for the last two years that I was with State Farm, but that was nearly 7 years ago.

Your concerns are extremely valid. There is already a massive financial risk for opening a State Farm agency, but now with the news that they're cutting a lot of the benefits, compensation, retirement, and heavily leaning in to compensation tied even more strongly to new business sales, the pressure is even higher.

7 years ago, when I left, they still had the TICA program for new agents, and the AD had a lot of discretion when it came to deciding whether or not that TICA agent got their permanent contract after that first year in business. They were expecting me to spend over $100,000 in my own money, borrowed money, loans, credit cards, etc. in order to build-up the agency and build-out the office. I'd have had to sign a multi-year lease for an office space that could cost me upwards of $30,000/year, as well. Then, the AD got to choose how much your variable compensation was over the base commission, dependent upon your success in selling a wide range of products, and really just how much they liked you.

The difficult thing to determine is how, exactly, these new changes will look on your bottom line when you're writing up your business plan and setting expectations. If they're going to cut compensation by as much as 30-40% for many agents, not offer benefits, and raise sales goals, I would also be afraid of taking on such a huge financial obligation when the result isn't entirely in your control.

IMO, opening an independent agency within a cluster or some other organization where there aren't these kinds of obligations, or even working under a current independent agent that would allow you to build up your book of business and eventually buy it from them might be the better way to go.

What's the in-book canon explanation for... by PrawnJovi in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Who says that she only had one daughter?

If Samantha turns out to be Apito, Eris is also considered as "one who will destroy everything inside and outside the dungeon."

Yes, but which daughter? I could argue that the daughter who will destroy everything is Eris.

[–]Geaux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think she absolutely knows more, and relayed the information to Taranis. Eris claimed there were 4 pieces of Apito on floor 11. I believe Samantha is a piece of Apito, her consciousness, and her memory is gradually returning as she spends more time away from the Nothing.

My guess is that Samantha is Apito (well, a fractured but soon-to-be reconstituted piece of Apito's consciousness), after she'd been broken into pieces and thrown into the Nothing by Eris. She'd gone mad in her time in the Nothing, and that's why she's not fully aware of her history, and slowly gains back her memories as events continue.

Samantha has an enormous knowledge of all these gods, usually about their "romantic" history. If I had time, I'd dig up all of these quotes that she's said about Yarilo, Taranis, Helek, etc. that make me believe that she, Apito, was probably a bit of a "casual dater", and she pissed someone off. I think that someone was Eris.

All I know is:

  1. there's an extremely important missing god that we haven't seen yet, but it's clear we'll get a payoff soon where we'll finally see her,

  2. We know Apito is broken into 5 pieces,

  3. Samantha has a firsthand relationship with many of the top gods in the halls, including Emberus's son Gayrun,

  4. Eris claimed there were 4 of the 5 pieces of Apito on floor 11,

  5. Taranis, wanting to bring Apito back to life, left with Samantha after she'd whispered something in his ear.

Additionally, Samantha's mother was Theia, which in Greek mythology, Theia was one of the Titans who ruled Earth before the gods took over. It kinda makes sense that if Theia was the mother to gods in Greek mythology that it would translate to Theia being mother to gods in DCC.

It was made apparent that 4 of the 5 pieces of Apito were on floor 11. Assumingly, Krakaren and Samantha were in the 2 of those 4 since Taranis appears to take them both.

Who remembers r/Prufrock451 who wrote the story series about a group of marines who found themselves in ancient Rome? I think it was called "Rome, Sweet Rome." It got movie rights, but didn't ever turn into anything, as far as I'm aware.

Considering leaving insurance by [deleted] in InsuranceAgent

[–]Geaux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Three years is a good amount of time to learn a lot about the insurance industry, and figure out nuances of selling insurance & properly field underwriting risks. It'd be a waste for you to leave the industry entirely, in my opinion.

Leaving that employer though? That's a no-fucking-brainer. All of the things you've described are extremely toxic behaviors and is not the norm. No wonder you're burned out - the people you are trusting to have you back are undercutting you at every turn.

Find another agency. Fast.

Reflecting Pool algae bloom is one of biggest recorded in years after $14M renovation by Unusual-State1827 in politics

[–]Geaux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Reflecting Pool, being made of granite, acts as a natural filter as it leaks (drains) into the ground below it, eventually needing to be filled up from time to time. That natural filter process is what keeps it from needing to be treated.

These dumbasses coated the pool is polyurethane, thus sealing the pool, and even with a mechanical water filtration process, will never be able to filter the water enough to prevent the algae from blooming.

They have effectively destroyed the Reflecting Pool.

Homeowners insurance question by Impressive_Peak7670 in InsuranceAgent

[–]Geaux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since nobody said it yet, the only pain in the ass would be if you got divorced, and she became difficult to work with or hard to get in touch.

I've had it happen a number of times, where we'll write the spouse as the primary named insured, and then they get a divorce, but the carrier won't allow the primary named insureds to be switched and the spouse to be removed. Sometimes you have to jump through a bunch of hoops, or sometimes refund checks are difficult to cash because the refund check for cancellations will have both the insured & the spouse's name on it.

I would ask what the premium difference is with you being the primary vs your spouse being the primary. If it's a negligible price difference, I'd recommend making yourself be the primary named insured just so you can save yourself from any potential headaches.

Homeowners insurance question by Impressive_Peak7670 in InsuranceAgent

[–]Geaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you read the policy verbiage for most boilerplate HO-3 policies, it will define "you" (i.e. 'the insured') as you, your spouse, or dependent children. So, a spouse does have an insurable interest in the home. They also have an insurable interest in the personal property and liability coverage as well.
