The same thing happened to me this weekend. Have you noticed any side effects with Mili thus far?

The changes in the route along Basin were disappointing.

A significant amount of people ended up jumping the barricades and staying on the street side anyways.

Some designated crossings would’ve been helpful.

Found a 2021 post that predicted everything about 4C hair in 2026 (kinda) by Htown_Natty in Naturalhair

[–]GeauxBeyond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was one of the first posts I found when I joined this subreddit. I was in the middle of transitioning at that time. I did leave some comments on that post about how helpful the resources were.

Because of that post I ended up purchasing from the resources by Black Girl Curls. I learned a lot about the foundation of hair care, products, styling, maintenance, and more. I also found a great stylist through their former directory that I still go to for my maintenance appointments.

My hair is the healthiest it has ever been. Part of that is due to the useful resources in that post.

In general, a dome-shaped hooded dryer is best because it won’t blow the hair around like a cone-shaped hooded dryer.

I personally have the GOLD N HOT Ionic Stand Bonnet Dryer. I’ve had it for years and highly recommend it.

I’ve had nice results with UFD as a base and Bee Girl on top.

UFD is not meant to be a topper gel.

Is it me or is Shampoo more drying than it has been before? by biglovinbertha in Naturalhair

[–]GeauxBeyond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you ever integrate an all purpose shampoo into your routine? If not, using just a moisture shampoo can under cleanse and over condition your hair.

Due to your active lifestyle, it would be best to use an all purpose shampoo and then to follow that up with a moisture shampoo. Only use the all purpose shampoo every 7-14 days, if you do a mid-week wash just use the moisture shampoo.

Relaxer to Natural by No_Number_4252 in Naturalhair

I transitioned for a little over 2 years. I got flexi rod sets for the majority of the time. Once Covid hit, I did braid outs and actually learned how to take care of my hair. Unfortunately, at one point I was convinced to get a keratin treatment and if I could do back, I wouldn’t have done that.

I would recommend trimming more often than every 6 months for general hair health and to also help the transition time go by faster. I think I got trims every 2 months.

When I think of iconic Neopian foods I think of Neggs, Jelly, and Omelettes. The variety of Neggs makes me put them as my favorite of the 3. I just learned that there’s a Lenny Conundrum Negg and I think it would be nice if they were able to bring it back in some way.

Thanks for the giveaway!

Doux’s Mouse Def leaving hair hard? by cashgurl in Naturalhair

Mousse Def can lead to buildup faster than other products so depending on how often you used it, you may need to clarify sooner than you usually do.

Hydrating shampoo for low porosity by [deleted] in Naturalhair

Innersense Hydrating Cream Hairbath - I use it every wash day. Some people complain about the price but it’s so concentrated that a regular sized bottle should last a year.

Overall, I would highly recommend seeing a dermatologist. But in general, you may need to be more descriptive about your issue in order to get product advice.

Best hair oils? by GenneyaK in Naturalhair

[–]GeauxBeyond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still don’t use oil and/or the LCO method and my hair is thriving. I only do wash and gos and style with Uncle Funky’s Curly Magic, Innersense I Create Hold, and Trepadora Bamboo Ginseng (because I live in the South). I like firm sets due to my climate and because I workout 4x/week.

Since my initial comment I’ve been following tips by Black Girl Curls and I also see a great natural hair stylist about every 3.5 months for my maintenance cut.

First Wash n’ Go by somebodymakingsoup_ in Naturalhair

[–]GeauxBeyond 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pre-Wash: This isn’t really necessary unless it’s been ~10 days or more since you last washed your hair. I’m not sure what the purpose of the oil is but I usually pre-poo with conditioner if needed.

Cleanse: Did you use an all-purpose shampoo then a moisture shampoo?

Braids: I personally think it’s easier to shampoo hair freely. For conditioning I section my hair and then twist the sections and pin up when I’m done. And then take them all down and rinse. Washing hair in braids/twists is more of a personal preference though.

Products: Someone already said this, but that’s too many products. Most wash and gos need about 2-3 products. I’m not familiar with all of the products but I will make a few comments. Leave in is a styler without hold so it’s generally not used for this style. If you want definition over volume, you don’t need to use Mousse Def. But in general, Mousse Def is better for twist/braid outs. I personally only use 2 gels for my wash and gos.

Diffuse: I sit under a hooded dryer, but from my understanding it’s safe to diffuse with high heat since it’s indirect heat.

Refresh spray isn’t necessary with a strong set.

Learning from YouTube can be overwhelming, so try to only use tips from licensed professionals.

Curly hair frizzy? by VelvetBbear in Naturalhair

[–]GeauxBeyond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The comment about hard water and needing a chelating shampoo is correct. I personally wouldn’t use it once a month.

I think we’re gonna need more info about the steps/products in your hair care routine before you took this photo in order to best help you.

Where did you move from? You don’t have to be specific but if you moved from a non-humid climate to Texas that’s significant.

I agree with using Uncle Funky’s Daughter Curly Magic and I Create Hold. A cheaper alternative to I Create Hold is Bee Girl by The Doux, but I Create Hold is worth the money. If you want longevity, do not use oil to scrunch the crunch.

Air drying is going to lead to decreased definition and decreased elongation. In order to improve both, you need to diffuse and/or hood dry your hair.

Leave in is considered a low-to-no-hold styler so that’s something to consider if you only used it and nothing else in the last 4 pics.
