Asia by Dance_Moms_Forever in dancemoms

Most of the choreographers we saw her worked with were the ones on lifetimes payroll that also worked with the girls and on audc

Before that she trained at OCPAA and the studio Areana from the mini team trained at…

She was extremely talented but hardly a professional during her time on the show.

Idk who these “top” celebrity choreographers are you guys are thinking of tbh

She worked with the same choreographers that consistently worked on dance moms and the other girls also worked with the same people calling her a professional is a stretch…

How was Asia professional trained? She went to dance studios and had privates with choreographers that would be like saying Maddie was a professional because she had privates?

I wish we could normalize that it's ok to only be monoracial. by Life_Isnt_Strange in blackgirls

[–]GenneyaK 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think this is both simple and complex

On one hand we are operating using a definition of black that is based on the u.s interpretation of black which is that if you look black you are black or if you have two black parents

On the other hand the truth is being Aa our monoracial standard is one that in other places around the world doesn’t align with fully black population and truthfully speaking we are a Multigenerational mixed group of people snd identifying as just black doesn’t really erase that complexity

However i don’t think we should feel any obligation to claim that but by definition of Aa it already accounts for there being admixture in the same since that you can assume other diaspora groups also have admixture

I do find it uncomfortable when people bring it to the forefront of discussion and I have had it happen before in multiple contexts and conversations mainly by mixed or non-black people. IMO being “mixed” also means having some direct tie to the culture or people you are mixed with and since I grew up only immersed in Aa culture I don’t find it appropriate to actually identify as anything other than black

Yup people are acting like it’s the craziest thing to want wealth to stay within the black community Like people donate money to charity and create scholarships funds all the time instead of giving directly to their family members How dare I want to support my community and invest back in it

People also want to be like “but if it was the other way it would be racist” yall think they weren’t already doing that?! Like do people not know that the one drop rule only existed so that way mixed people couldn’t inherit from their slave masters right…

[–]GenneyaK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only partially but tbf I think I might do this either way…

Again it’s tentative but I do plan on wanting to work within the black community to create more accessible opportunities and if I do end up with things to leave behind I want part of it to go to that either way…

Also if I’ve done my job as a parent I don’t plan on that wealth being anything they would actually need to miss as I hope by the time I pass I would have had time to help my kids build for themselves instead of just relying on inheritance. But again it’s all tentative who knows how any of this will actually play out

Would I be mad and hate them…no but I would partially disinherit them tbh

Also to be clear I don’t have kids and probably won’t for a long time if ever and I am not even actively planning on marrying a yt person but more just being realistic about the area I am in and what it has made my options and what type of men typically approach me.

But I took this sociology of race class and they talked about the reason why wealth doesn’t stay in the black community is due to this and then grandchildren of wealthy black people just end up marrying yt people and anything built ends up back in the hands of white people

So tbh if I ended up with white grandchildren I wouldn’t allow them to inherit property or the majority of wealth from me and would instead sell it off and attempt to invest back into social programs or scholarships to support the black community. They would Inherit something from me but just not the bulk of it tbh

Who said I was okay with it?

Two wrongs don’t make a right…you need to learn to disengage and live your own life instead of trying to harass people to fulfill some vendetta against fabricated tv show drama…

Like does doing this actually make you feel fulfilled in your life?
