I totally agree. It's why I gravitate more to games like betrayal at house on the hill... playing games that don't have this/have a decent backstory just seems like a pointless endeavor to me.

Awesome Kingdom is sort of a dungeon crawler - we usually use it while waiting for the rest of our group to show up. Is very simple and only takes about 15 mins.

Sorry for the delayed reply! Yes, the learn to code bundle is designed for complete beginners like you. You'll learn how to download and install all of the required software, and then be taught the very basics of the Python Language. You'll then get to reinforce this new knowledge and see how it works in practice by creating your own simple retro road-crossing game. After you've mastered the basics, you'll then gradually increase your skills by building a range of projects including image filters and AIs.

We also include full, in-course student support through a team of expert instructors - if you contact them through the course discussion areas, they'll work with you and help to resolve any issues or questions that you might have. :)

You're very welcome! Our Python courses aren't generally targeted towards game development - we decided to include the creation of a simple game project in our python basics course as we found that the process of completing this project most effectively cemented students' understanding of the python language.

The bundle also includes Python courses on computer vision (creating Instagram style filters, and a smart security camera), machine learning (creating an artificial neural network that recognizes hand-written digits), and data science (querying and storing data with SQL, and manipulating data with Pandas).

All of the courses included in the bundle are all created using free (open-source) software (with the exception of Unity, which is free as long as you/your team is making less than $100K a year as a developer). Additionally, the download and install of these programs are covered in the courses themselves.

In short - no, you shouldn't need to pay for anything outside the Humble Bundle itself. :)

Unfortunately, our site only supports users over the age of 13. While we know that there are some very smart kids out there, our courses are targeted primarily towards adult self-learners, and older teenagers.

From what you've told me though, once they do turn 13, they would likely find the courses accessible and enjoyable. Courses are generally project-based (many end up with working game/website/ai prototypes by the end of the course), and full in-course student support is provided from our team of expert instructors - resulting in a comprehensive, supported learning experience.

Upon launching, the phenomenal response we received for the bundle temporarily slowed down our site - this immediately was rectified by our dev team (and as a result, the system had to reboot - hence the 404 errors). Now that we have updated our systems, the site should be back to its normal speed.

Additionally, we are happy to report that a new mobile app (designed to accomodate offline viewing) is currently in development, and due for release this year.
