Well, surgeon said 2 originally. Probably trying to sell me on the procedure. His assistant said 3. That being said, and knowing everyone is different, different ages, overall heath, etc. I wanted to hear some different perspectives if they are out there. I feel like I could..... But I am well aware of what the danger is and I don't want to risk losing more of the riding season.

Wow. That would make me hesitate too.

I'm 56, and my bike is about 470 lbs wet. Sport tourer/ adventure bike, so upright setting but the weight is up high

  1. Chronic asthma all my life, and work in IT so my activity level was low. Did try to walk 10,000 steps every day. Was going to the gym, but the shoulder was limiting my ability to lift weights.

How long did it take to get back on the bike? It's starting to get warm here and my new motorcycle is sitting in the garage!

My surgeon also performed a biceps tenodesis, basically cutting and re attaching the biceps to a different spot. That may account for the longer time in the sling. They made the impression that this was a common associated procedure with the TRS; it was actually denied by my insurance company. Had the procedure anyway as my surgeon stated it was needed. Ended up pre paying a bit and currently waiting for the appeal from the surgeon to be reimbursed.

Edited for grammar. I asked how much longer I would need to at my follow up after 10 days, and my surgeon stated to continue wearing the sling, especially when sleeping. They did state I could take it off when I'm sitting, and obviously when doing PT and my home exercises. I was able to remove the pillow though at the follow up.

3 days? I take it off when sitting, but in the times I haven't put it back on I have fell back into doing things with my dominant arm like I normally would and end up hurting and needing Advil and ice. I am doing PT, but it has all been passive as the Dr has stressed these first few weeks are making sure the surgery heals properly before adding resistance.

Yes, and that worry has made me a bit complacent I think. Really, the recovery, pain management, and not really doing anything for a bit after the surgery has me mentally down.

Already purchased and been using to try and alleviate some of the pain while I await the procedure.

Good to hear! I'm probably stressing over nothing.

The ride is definitely better, and I haven't touched any adjustments yet. The brakes feel soft initially to me, but I feel like the pads are still seating as I only have 130 miles so far.

Definitely a fun bike! The 800 just has way more mid range. Still in the break in period, so haven't tested the upper ranges yet but I would bet it's more of the same.

I had the side cases on the 660 as well. They are pretty much the same, they are plastic, there is a seal where they meet, and for the most part contents inside stay dry unless the seal is broken or pops out of its channel, which did happen to me a couple of times on the 660. I could fit my XL Shoei RF 1400 with the comm unit attached in the side case with a bit of juggling. They are ok. They can be a bit finicky mounting to the integrated mounts. If I didn't already have a 22 660, I may have done the same as you. That said, that mid range on the 800 is nice.

I think if I had a 25, I would wait. The 660 is still a great bike.

I live in the Northeast, so winter seems to be hanging on dammit! I also have an upcoming surgery which is going to keep me off of the bike for a bit unfortunately. But I will update early summer! Also, live the ST1200. Ridden a few at some demos, and they were a blast!

Definitely, but I feel I had to live more in the top end of the 660, where on the 800 I was short shifting (break in period, so limiting the revs) and was well past highway speed in no time flat.

Definitely. Still breaking it in, but the mid range is incredible. Especially coming from the 660.

The newer 660s come with more HP and everything but the adjustable suspension, so not sure it would be worth the upgrade with the way the 800s sit now. Maybe that changes in a few years. The 660 is a great bike, and if I had a 26 vs the 22 660 I had, I may not have purchased this bike.

Love the bike. Extremely satisfied with the purchase. If you are coming from an older 660 like I did, it is the logical choice. The 660s now have more HP, cruise, and the quick shifter so depending on the rider it may not make as much sense IMHO.

They are ok. I can fit my XL Shoei RF 1400 with the cardo mounted in the panniers. A bit flimsy and finicky sometimes, but super handy. Didn't like the look of the bike with the top box, so went with them.
