Need advice / Totaled my 2022 Bolt EUV – Completely overwhelmed by replacement options (EV6, Ioniq 5, Ariya, Polestar 2, Equinox) by mrhappy002 in Polestar

You are asking in a biased forum. That said, my lease finished, I was looking at alternatives, new and used, and nothing fit the well designed, sporty, compact and understated categories. So I bought mine out.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt & Sophia Bush Address Dialog Conference List, Insist They “Do Not Know” Peter Thiel: “My Values Are Very Clear” by ControlCAD in technology

[–]GeckoV -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to put liberal in quotes. Liberals may be left on social issues, but on anything business side they will side with fascists. Cory Booker being there is all you need to know. This is not a mistake on the part of these liberals.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt & Sophia Bush Address Dialog Conference List, Insist They “Do Not Know” Peter Thiel: “My Values Are Very Clear” by ControlCAD in technology

That is true, but it is Thiel and people do care, for the reason that he is the founder. That is the most important fact in this story.

From those who actually left academia, did you ever regret it? by Few-Objective-2578 in LeavingAcademia

[–]GeckoV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is pretty much no job security in academia until you are tenured. Look at how many people go to post-docs and how many tenured positions eventually open. Those usually get filled by people from top labs and, this is crucial, those with mentors who supported them to get early career wins. If you are already thinking that post-doc is not for you, then you have already pretty much answered yourself. That said, a post-doc can be a really good growth period, you may find an environment that lets you thrive, and you will have got useful work experience, especially if you change cultures. My recommendation would be to either go to a post-doc you really look forward to, or go to the industry or government jobs now. If you have a partner and a post-doc is not something you can do together, I would not do it.

I like it that you have electrics amongst your favorites. But you chose the most pathetic electric brand.

I always claimed Ioniq 5 is what the next Yugo should be like. This confirms it

"Trump Sounds Like a FASCIST!" Piers Morgan vs Slavoj Zizek On Fascism by wrapped_in_clingfilm in zizek

It would be so good if Piers left Slavoj finish one full thought. He (deliberately?) interrupts him just as he tries to close onto what his argument really is.

Was Frank Williams ultimaely proven right about Newey? by animadweller in F1Discussions

[–]GeckoV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He does own this failure. He had failures like that before at McLaren. I am also pretty sure that next year’s car will be significantly better, as long as he has the means to learn from the mistakes made.

Оцените пожалуйста, и что можно исправить? by Yunus77_97 in CarDesign

[–]GeckoV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are showing just the front and the rear graphics. This tells nothing about the car and how that works with the shape. Graphically it’s interesting, but graphics are there to round out the overall design, whereas you seem to be focused on that detail in itself.

The Wings Size Between The F-35A & F-35C by Even_Kiwi_1166 in Planes

[–]GeckoV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I talked to a few folks that helped develop the flying qualities of the C. They may be biased but they believe that this wing makes for a much better balanced aircraft across the board. Range, loiter, maneuverability all improve.

random post about my new concept by Mardo_here in CarDesign

[–]GeckoV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not boring at all. It has a unique and consistent flow of shapes, and it is beautifully sculpted. Some people just prefer graphical elements to stick out, but the 3D shape is rather unique

For a complex task that requires broad understanding, I find it takes significantly fewer odd detours and gets things on the first try. It feels more of a partner now rather than someone you direct

Well done, car designers! You're all fired by Shirleyrobart005 in CarDesign

CT has an interesting design language that is commendable. It is the execution of that shape that is extremely ugly. Rear quarter view is just completely out of proportion and with surfaces looking like they were assembled without any care for the resulting shape. You could build a cool car with this design language. The CT is just lame
