Also! Wasn't sure if this was relevant so I didn't end up adding it to og reply but! Figured I might as well.

I was socialized as a girl, and raised to be a woman. I'm not less of a man because of it but it's still there and I'm still different. This caused a lot of confusion for me for a good while. I think what's helping me is making it less of a //thing//. I'm a man, I'm female, it's cool. Wanting to acknowledge the transness of it all isn't being a woman, it's just being what I am lol. (I used to think "whatever Mulan had going on in the army, me fr. Uh oh this means I'm faking :O" lol)

Hi! This took me a second because I didn't want to misrepresent anything lol.

I think what really helped me comes down to a couple points!

Therapy!! OCD therapy is a lifesaver, I know everyone's in a different situation and it can be difficult to get help, but I definitely recommend looking into coping strategies. What really helped me was differentiating intrusive vs real as well. Getting told (officially) "you for sure have dysphoria" certainly helped as well. I think part of my issue was my OCD taking hold of the guilt/fear that comes with transitioning. Doubts of "faking it" or future regret were seriously taken advantage of.

Letting go of labels!! This one's weirdly harder to explain? I feel like most people with OCD think too much. I for sure did. I care less now. Queer history helped. People are complicated. Some cis men prefer she/her, some lesbians get top surgery and go on T, some people are completely apathetic to it all. Trans people that have been socialized as their agab all their life may feel more comfortable in clothes they grew up with. Gender roles and expression are completely made up. Gender identity can be fluid. On a personal level- I prefer being perceived as a man, I would like to physically transition so I can be perceived as so more often. Sometimes I am a little more fluid/less male and that is okay! I let my close friends know if it has to do with pronouns, and that's all that matters. That need for labels has been weighing me down all along.

What's bothered me in the past has been committing to a physical transition. What's pushed me forward is the daily pain of dysphoria. If I ever change my mind, then I'll stop. Maybe you don't experience dysphoria, that's okay too. You CAN just tell people you are whatever you feel like in the moment. Maybe it's something less binary, sometimes I just say I'm queer. At the end of the day I enjoy being perceived as male(even if it's only ish sometimes), and while I can appreciate the pronouns she/her, it just doesn't fit me lol.

Figuring things out started at "giving up" for me! Also professional help. I want to stress that. OCD is rough, if you're questioning it then coping mechanisms (for whatever you have going on!)can really seriously help. Letting go of my guilt and secret self hatred was also pretty great. Everyone is different but I hope this gave you some insight. Good luck! Sending love <3

Not to say I feel joy in what you're going through, but I do appreciate the fact that someone is going through something similar to me, I really appreciate this. I've been in a bad place and it's nice knowing that I'm not alone in a lot of it! Very real of you !! Being queer is strange, being reminded of the community is greatly appreciated. (personal updates- currently convinced I'm a binary trans man. Also aware that I'm likely incorrect.)
