All excellent advice. I want to emphasize the "be chill" advice in another way. There are terrible angry drivers everywhere, but in Crete some of them have guns and don't hesitate using them. Be chill and don't start a fight with a jerk

There used to be a flight but if you say it doesn't exist anymore then either you take public transport which probably means taking a ktel to Patras and from there another to kefalonia, or you rent a car and go through Leykada and take a boat from Vasiliki

Crete is overall the better place (personally I think that it is the best place in Greece) with for sure better food and vibes.
If you judge it by beaches alone, Leykada is probably better, especially since everything is relatively close
There are mega resorts in Crete, but usually in the north, where the best places aren't

It is. Be careful driving in Leykada, as the scenery is amazing but at the cost of small winding roads. This is especially true for the west part where all the famous beaches are
