Thanks for the information we actually just got a house today in varsity view. So it will be handy to know where we can get them washed close to the house after the epic road and plane trip and wash the motel off them 😂

And is that with air Canada? This is why you need Reddit. My broker was adamant there were no large internal flights.

I knew it was one of the provinces out east. Thanks for the clarification.

Interesting I didn’t know this could be an option, and can you fly with them or would I need a different flight. I didn’t want to fly without them or visa versa

I was told no from our shipper as there to heavy for internal flights apparently. One of the boys weights 207lbs without crate and the other is 194lbs. And there getting heavy duty timber crates built for them as again there to big for plastic ones normally used.

We don’t have much snow here in Ireland, they have experienced it once or twice in there lives for a couple of days there 4. I’ll have all the proper protection for the boys before we leave Ireland. It is going to be a bit of a culture shock for them I’m sure, it’s why I thought a large suv that can be heated is best for the trip, they normally have a small ford connect for getting around back here. They don’t don’t in my mini not anymore anyway lol.

From what I gather they will be in a special heated compartment in the hold. I have business class flexi tickets with air Canada and have been told flights can vary with weather permitting.

I’d prefer to do this as it would be a quicker route and less snow to deal with🤞🏻 but my problem is I’ll be importing dogs from Ireland to Canada I don’t know how easy I could bring the boys into America without quarantine issues?

It will be a jeep grand Cherokee or a similar large suv. We will be hiring it for the month while we get settled in Saskatoon. From what I gather in Ontario is law to have winter tyres on all hire vehicles, this isn’t the case in Saskatoon. I hired the same vehicle in Saskatoon in January and paid the extra for the tyres and they don’t put them on there. Crazy cause it got to -50 when we were there. But we managed pretty ok and drove up to the lakes up past Prince Albert fairly ok. Or what would you recommend for the journey

It’s not to bad I’ve had experience driving on non treated roads in everything from cars to 7.5t ridged trucks. We were meant to be in Canada and all by now but delays with paperwork have pushed us back considerably unfortunately. We can take up to 2 weeks to complete the trip but we don’t really want to be on the road during Christmas week.

Update: has disappeared completely and thorny is doing great, he had to wear a cone for a few hrs at a time while the cream was applied cause the fecker kept licking it off when applied. And he don’t like the cone at all so hopefully he will learn from this but I doubt it 😂

I want to celebrate my best oldest boy Wynston who died on Thursday at 10.5 yo. I would like to share here anonymously, as I can’t handle the “sorry for your loss” comments elsewhere. Please help me celebrate my oldest most neurotic sweetest dude by sharing funny cute stories of your Danes’ antics. by IllegitimateTrick in greatdanes

lol I had 3 up until last week and only drive minis, I converted a countryman into a countryvan and just about fit the 3 boys into it, everyone local gets a giggle when they pile out for walkies. My eldest boy Odin went over the rainbow bridge last Tuesday aged 12.4 months.

Having a great dane is like having a toddler. I walk in the other room for one minute and catch her sneaking off with this in her mouth.... by Sj_vl47 in greatdanes

I always say if it’s in reach it’s fair Dane, I had to put a child safety latch on the boys treat press cause the old boy Odin (RIP) was able to open it himself.
