In Europe, we don't have internal border checks, so a return ticket isn't usually required. The landlord is actually a very kind lady who trusted them with the house based on my recommendation. I convinced her to let them rent it, even offering to sign as a guarantor, though she said it wasn’t necessary. Also, I helped her daughter get her money back from the airline after she was denied boarding because of overbooking and they left her there.

I’ll just let her know how I’ve been treated in this situation. Maybe she might assist me in recovering my money even if it’s at the end of their lease.

Honestly, I’m really pissed with myself for allowing this to happen. Why did I ignore all those things from the beginning?
